Johnson, a restricted free agent, is still unsigned and not with the summer league team. Dumars said he was hopeful of getting him signed by Wednesday. If so, Johnson would be able play in at least three games (two official games and one organized scrimmage). The Pistons and Johnson are believed to be close on a three-year deal that would pay Johnson close to $10 million. No other team appears to be in the bidding.Once Johnson signs, the Pistons will have two open roster spots. They would love for Samb to get one of them. Presently, Samb has the option of returning to Barcelona next season. The Pistons would not have to buy him out. But if he does return, the Barcelona team could sign him to a deal which the Pistons would have to buy him out of if they were to summon him in 2008-09.The best-case scenario is the Pistons see enough growth this summer to sign him to a minimum contract and let him play in Fort Wayne.Mejia is fighting for the same option. He is 6-6 and trying to latch on as a small forward. The Pistons most likely won't sign both. They would like to keep at least one roster spot open for a veteran player, or in case they need the spot to make a trade.</div>Really good news, a little over 3 mil a year may be overpaying a little bit now, but I'm sure it'll look like a bargain in three years. No mention of Alex Acker in there, I guess he's not coming over this season? I think most likely we'll sign Samb and have him play in the NBDL, while Mejia plays overseas.
Hopefully the Pistons can re-sign Amir asap so that he could play the final 3 summer league games. I am hoping at the same time we are trying to re-sign Amir that we are still looking to go after someone like Mo Pete. After that the only remaining question is how the 4 and 5 spots are going to look like for next season? HoLLa baCk

It's official: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Restricted free-agent forward Amir Johnson has agreed to re-sign with the Detroit Pistons for an estimated $12 million over three years, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.Amir JohnsonJohnsonThe Pistons have now realized their top two offseason priorities by retaining the promising young Johnson and keeping 2004 NBA Finals MVP Chauncey Billups. The Pistons have hardly used Johnson since taking him with the 56th pick in the 2005 NBA draft. In two seasons with Detroit, Johnson has played in just 11 games. He posted a career-high 20 points on 10-for-14 shooting in this season's finale against the Celtics.</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2934290Hopefully he'll be able to play in the next summer league game. Four mill a year isn't too bad, especially since we aren't going to sign a free agent most likely.
This is great news. I agree with you, I would like to see him playing in the next summer league game.
I was hoping Amir would re-sign for 5 more seasons rather than 3, but as long as we got him re-signed is all that matters. Now Saunders has to provide minutes for him and you just never know he could be starting sooner than later. HoLLa baCk
