so as most of u know- i'm not entirely convinced about bargnani, i like the kid but i don't see superstar. with that in mind, colangelo said he would trade the #1 pick for a superstar player in return which would conceivably propel us into elite status in the weak east. so earlier today i was reading an article which argued that the new memphis ownership group was going to be cutting payroll. and then earlier tonight it hit me- rasho, mo. pete and bargnani for pau gasol and mike miller. look at our roster after the trade Starters TJ Ford (pg) Fred Jones (sg) Mike Miller (sf) Chris Bosh (pf) Pau Gasol © Bench Caledron (sixth man) Garbosa Anthony Parker Joey G -this team gets u home court advantage throughout the playoffs in the east -moreover, three players from the winning spanish team would be reunited
Looks good according to the ol' trade checker I like it for sure. im not sure Colangelo would like it though. Im pretty sure he's convinced that Bargs is a future star. Would he be willing to trade that inclination for a player of gasol's capability...hard to say. I sure like that line-up though. Id prolly start AP over Jones though. I like AP's defense and descision making, and his shooting over Freddy.
I've been a big Bargnani supporter ever since we got him. I love the kid's potential, his work ethic, and I think he'll be a star. But I would do that trade in a heartbeat (barring injury concerns about Gasol). Mike Miller is a very underrated player and we desperately need a shooter of his calibre. We get rid of Rasho's god awful contract and avoid a situation with Mo-Pete in a contract year. And what can you say about a frontcourt of Gasol and Bosh? It'd be ridiculously dominant, especially in the East. And, of course, there is that Spanish connection that you mentioned. The question is, would Memphis do it? Miller's better than Peterson and Gasol is already a superstar, as opposed to a potential superstar in Andrea. And then, nobody wants a contract like Rasho's.

PG - TJ Ford SG - Anthony Parker SF - Mike Miller PF - Chris Bosh C - Pau Gasol That's a top 5 team in the East, at least.
got playin around with the trade checker and came up with this one...what do you guys think? toronto addresses 2 of our biggest problems. inside toughness/rebounding, and a secondary scorer on the wing who can score and consistantly knock down shots. seattle trade shard' because he's prolly walking at seasons end. I dont know why they trade wilcox. they probably dont and wouldnt lol. But this is my fantasy league and its just a thought. pg - TJ sg - AP sf - shard pf - bosh c - wilcox bench, jose, freddy, garbs, humph, joey

(2) bargnani could be sold as the future (3) memphis needs size and rasho has three years left, while millers and pau have longer contracts for more money (4) making the trade would be essentially tanking the season and in the bad arse west that means a legit chance at drafting close to number one in one of the best drafts in years; with that in mind, look at the trade like this: pau gasol and mike miller for bargnani, rasho, mo pete (whose contract expires) and (Greg Oden?)

Uumm... I hate to say this, but Pau isn't going to leave Memphis unless they get a proven star like Bosh in return. A Gasol and Bosh combo would be a nightmare though....
The more i think about it, the more I like the idea of having 2 skilled and scoring big men who can rebound over top of a big man/wing player scoring combination. gasol/bosh would be a twin tower type combination that would carve up the east.
Premium, if Seattle didn't want to put in Wilcox, I'd be happy with Petro/Collison and a 2008 1st round draft pick.

I think we would probably have to give up a future first rounder for this to happen. I think its interesting that you already doubt Bargnani as a superstar... from what i have seen he has confidence, a shot, good lateral quicks and can handle the ball for a big. He plays much better defense than i thought he was capable of, although he tends to get manhandled on low block but he can improve that. From what i have seen he has the tools to be a superstar, whether he develops into one is still in the air but he definitely has the ability. Its not that i wouldn't make that trade. I like the trade a lot, Im just wondering why your convinced Bargs won't be a superstar?
I like the Memphis deal, except for the Mike Miller part.. Maybe Swift or Warrick or something along those lines.. since Miller has a big contract with long years and not known for his defense. And if Raptors did get Gasol, you'd have 3 key players on the Spanish team, which gives you good chemistry between them.. Bosh and Gasol would be sickness.

As long as he gets handled right, I dont see why he cant become at least comparable to gasol. when gasol came in the league he was thought to be weak and not able to bang down low, and he's certainly turned that around. Bargs has longer range then gasol, so if he can just get that killer instinct on defense and in the paint he could be everything gasol is key word being "could" though
How about we keep bargs for the same reason....a chance and a good draft pick in a good draft....still i'd make that trade in a second. I don't see bargs as the real deal....starter yes, allstar no.

I completely forgot about that. Scratch him off then. I still think we should try and get a 2008 draft pick in any trade we do. I think that's the year our protection on the pick from the Lammond Murray runs out.
