Another 28 percent pick President George W. Bush. Ronald Reagan is the best president since WWII, 35 percent of voters say, with 18 percent for Bill Clinton, 15 percent for John F. Kennedy and 8 percent for Obama, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Among Democrats, 34 percent say Clinton is the best president, with 18 percent each for Obama and Kennedy. Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, 39 percent of voters say, while 40 percent say he is worse. Men say 43 - 36 percent that Obama is worse than Bush while women say 42 - 38 percent he is better. Obama is worse, Republicans say 79 - 7 percent and independent voters say 41 - 31 percent. Democrats say 78 - 4 percent that he is better. Voters say by a narrow 37 - 34 percent that Obama is better for the economy than Bush. America would be better off if Republican Mitt Romney had won the 2012 presidential election, 45 percent of voters say, while 38 percent say the country would be worse off. Missing Mitt are Republicans 84 - 5 percent and independent voters 47 - 33 percent, while Democrats say 74 - 10 percent that the U.S. would be worse off with Romney. "Over the span of 69 years of American history and 12 presidencies, President Barack Obama finds himself with President George W. Today, the president gets negative scores of 10 - 88 percent from Republicans, 31 - 59 percent from independent voters, 37 - 57 percent from men and 42 - 49 percent from women. Democrats approve 79 - 13 percent.
I don't think he is as bad as Bush Jr . . . but Obamacare has really effected him negatively. I thought this was weird: Voters say by a narrow 37 - 34 percent that Obama is better for the economy than Bush. Obama has disappointed me in a lot of areas . . . but not the stock market . . . at least not yet.
Obama has seriously damaged the younger voter demographic. He inspired a lot of kids to get out and vote for the first time, selling his hopes and dreams and all that bullshit. I've personally seen and heard a lot of people who are very disenfranchised after how he completely screwed them over.
The poll here really reflects the resent experience and the memory span of the people polled. For me (long memory span) The best list: Ronald Reagan Harry Truman Eisenhower John Kennedy The Worst list: Barack Obama Richard Nixon Lyndon Johnson Jimmy Carter
Personally, I think GW has to be on the "worst" list, and I voted for him the first time. I think Obama is worse, but we got some pretty shitty things out of the Bush administration. The Patriot Act. The Department of Homeland Security. Two wars. When we first went into Iraq, I wasn't really sure what the reason was. Now I'm pretty sure it was simply so that we could give big-money contracts to companies like Halliburton. What I've learned over the past few years is that there aren't any political parties anymore. It's only a matter of which corporation owns which politician, and then how that politician will vote to protect his corporate interests. I've learned about the corruption, the under-the-table bribes, and the bullshit deals that have been going on. I don't think our country has ever been in worse shape.
I have personally never really known a "good" president. I was too young to really remember the Reagan years, and I only vaguely remember the first Bush era. Clinton sucked, but GW was worse, and now we're dealing with this poor excuse for a President. My only fear is that Hillary will take over, but then again, it's not like the Republicans have trotted out anyone better. McCain? Romney? Give me a fucking break. Anyone who isn't a brain washed religious right winger is pretty much done with the GOP, and anyone that isn't a utopian chasing "progressive" is done with the Dems. When can we have a real third party?
Third party, more Libertarians now in my age grouping. Both parties are WAY too controlling over us (R's socially and D's financially).
True. I have a hard time not making Carter #2 for being so bad I hated to call him President. But I can't over look the dispicable Nixon who I never could vote for. Johnson got us into that damn war that never should have happened and lied like hell to get it done. I never agreed that we should be trying to create a Democracy in Irag but I really can not fault GW for going to war in Irag or Afghanistan. What I can fault him for is failing to define victory that was achievable. The lives and treasure squandered on the unachievable is unforgivable.
I don't think we will get a third party. Hell that would just give the Dems the floor. The best I can see is a Libertarian Republican, sort of in the mold of Rand Paul.
I think Carter was the worst ever, and by far. Obama has actually had some successes, and hasn't hurt the nation nearly as much.
I don't think we were trying to create democracy. I think we were trying to hand out huge contracts to our corporate masters. How much did Halliburton make off that fiasco anyway? Every day I see a new story about a giant corporation fucking over our country, and depending on which side of the fence, it's either a republican or a democrat backing them up. Either it's the Comcast merger, Monsanto poisoning our agriculture, or some other corporate giant openly fucking the people of this country. The government doesn't care. The government doesn't have our back because we don't fill their coffers.
Halliburton was so dissatisfied with the money they made in Iraq that they sold off the division that did business there. I do not at all think Halliburton was any part of us going into Iraq. Halliburton made lots of money during the Clinton years too.
Well, my original theory back in 2003 was that we needed a base of operations in the Middle East. We were tired of dealing with the Saudis or the Israelis so it put us right in the middle of things. My other theory, was that it drew all the terrorist organizations to Iraq, where our military could fight them, instead of having them come to our own soil. That was my original theory. Not sure I still believe it.
