“Baseball breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall all alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” A. Bartlett Giamatti
Local media is pimping that Tropicana Field is sold out for todays game. Tropicana can seat 40,470 fans . of that number 38,000 will probably be Red Sox Fans with the local team drawing the remainder!
...seems like whenever the Yanx play down there, there's as many Yanx jerseys as there are Rays jerseys.
Largest crowds at Tropicana occur when the Yankees and Red Sox are in town. Talking to a Rays fan at the Bank who stated that if attendance doesn't improve on the local side they'll be moving beyond Tampa. One thing about Rays Fans though, they hate the Red Sox while they at least have some respect for the Yankees.
