https://www.the-newshub.com/combat/anderson-silva-expects-to-clear-name-at-drug-hearing After months of delays, Anderson Silva will finally face the Nevada Athletic Commission on August 13th for his failed pre-fight drug tests at UFC 183. 'The Spider' set the MMA world ablaze when he tested positive for steroids after his theatrical clash with Nick Diaz in January. The former middleweight ruler has pleaded his innocence since the results were revealed, stating on an Instagram post in February, "I don't know what to apologize for, because I am still waiting for the results and analysis from the specialists that are working to reveal the truth." Now, on the eve of his hearing before the NAC, the Brazilian expects to clear his name and put an end to the controversy. Silva feels testing irregularities will affirm his innocence. Nick Diaz also failed the drug tests for UFC 183, after it was revealed that the Californian tested positive for marijuana metabolites for the third time in his career. After continuous delays, Diaz and Silva will plead their case to the Nevada Athletic Commission on Thursday, August 13th.
I feel like he already admitted guilt when he said something to the effect of it being "stuff he took to heal his leg". I'm expecting the hearing to be a legal vernacular rodeo.
http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/8/1...xual-performance-medication-tainted-drug-test MMA Fighting is reporting that Silva's defence will be that he a) took "sexual enhancement" pills and b) a supplement tainted the test results, leading to his multiple failed drug tests. Holy shitballs. He's shameless. His rep wasn't hurt bad enough now he's going to trot out the most embarrassing, lame-ass excuse possible. Dude, they are going to wipe you out of the history books for this.
I can't believe they've postponed this so far out. Does anybody even care anymore? Wasn't this fight back in like January?
Helwani updates: - Anderson Silva's attorney says his client denies ever intentionally or knowingly taking any anabolic steroids. - Commissioner Anthony Marnell: This is a hearing for this man’s career. Why wouldn’t you submit the tests to us today? - Very bad start for Anderson in Nevada. The commission doesn't seem impressed with his representation and what they're bringing to the table. - Commission asks Silva why he took the sexual performance "blue vial" pill. Silva says, "that's my business." NAC not impressed. - Anderson wasn't happy with the translator, so they have, fittingly, called upon his old friend and manager Ed Soares to do it. Feels right. - Silva says his friend got it for him in Thailand. Now they ask the old translator if this is accurate. She says AS changed his answer. - Marnell: Did it ever cross ur mind that taking a blue vial from a friend in Thailand for a fighter of your stature might not be a good move? - “@olivercopp: Mrs. Mersch looking none too pleased.” she's giving them the Anderson death stare he was just giving his lawyers. Tense stuff. - Silva reiterating that he's never taken any kind of steroids. And then "Let's talk about sex" plays on the speaker. Everyone laughs. Wild! - Now they are going back to the old translator, focusing on the friend in Thailand who gave Anderson the unmarked blue pill.
- Bit weird how Anderson said he was uncomfortable with the translator and now they are just going back to her. - Why not keep using Ed and if there's any inaccuracies allow her to chime in? (I know there's no point in tweeting this but bare with me …) - Silva says he didn't feel comfortable writing he was taking this stuff on his pre-fight questionnaire, and now he's subjected to this … - NAC seems like the kinda crew that's a lot more lenient if you just fess up. Especially when a star is there. They don't like the runaround.
Anderson's career is over. He has completely ruined his legacy. His arrogance will forever be his downfall. First, with Weidman. Now, with the NSAC.
Suspended for 1 year, retroactive to the fight date. January 31, 2016. Career effectively over, right?
Nope. At least I doubt it. He feels no shame. Retiring would be admitting guilt. He's going to come back and act like nothing happened. And the UFC will be fine with that since he did his time and paid his fine.
Refusing to admit any wrongdoing cost Silva only 3-months. Good thing they have changed their policy. There was no incentive to admit guilt.
