Why did Biedrins only play 1 minute vs. the Cavs in the Summer League? http://vegassummerleague.com/box_score.cfm?game=69
Somewhere in those 40 seconds, he probably made a free throw and was so overjoyed he strained himself. Check out the box stats though. 60% field goals allowed and 30% fg shooting on our end. Hey! Just like the real Warriors roster!
Read that smal injury... No big thing, but they decided to keep him on bench just in case.... But this keeps getting better and better, first Monta, now Andris... "Warriors Summer League Curse" Part II.
The thing I'm most disappointed in right now is Mario Elie. The Warriors backcourt went a combined 7-30 from the field, and none of the guys, with the exception of Bynum (and possibly Berea) have any shot at making the team. I know they're trying to prove themselves out there, but c'mon, at some point Elie has to step in and get these guys to give the bigs more touches. Well, I guess since Biedrins went down, O'Bryant is really the only big man they care about. Elie might have told them to go out there and do what they want. But still, the Cavs ate the Warriors lunch today, and even though O'Bryant scored more and shot well, he's still not rebounding the ball. Hopefully Diogu will get in there for the last two games and show this team how you're supposed to play.
I haven't seen the game to see if it's Elie's fault, but my guess is the point guards we have aren't really point guards. They just don't know how to run offense and score enough in the flow to garner close single man coverage or double team coverage... Also, when Project O'Bryant or some other big dudes don't posess much one-on-one footwork on isolations, point guards have to create off the dribble or fire one down the middle so they can score something easy. That's often difficult to do when your team can't shoot to create some space or prevent guys from crowding the paint. Just look at the dismal numbers for Stinson and Bynum (two of our better scorers last game) and some others... Yuck. It's hard for the big man to score when guys pack in the middle and our guards have no idea how to make others better or play unselfishly when other positions aren't scoring the ball very reliably... That's just my take on the game without having seen it play by play.

Summer league games are really unorganized and cater more to guards and players who can create off the dribble. You rarely see any plays run in the halfcourt set. I wouldn't put too much stock in anyone's performance until preseason comes along. All you can look out for in Summer league play is who's been hitting the weights and if a player has polished some of their moves from last season.
