http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=tsn-donnelsonusesflameth&prov=tsn&type=lgns Chris Dudley eat your heart out... 3-23 for the season at the line. The guy has never been Steve Nash, but this year FTs are his kryptonite. If dude catches the ball deep in the paint he tries to pass it as quickly as possible for fear of an and 1. I heard the interview that the article is quoting and DN wasn't mixing words at all... he said a lot more. STOMP
I saw parts of that game last night. Biedrins is the worst looking free throw shooter I have ever seen -- ever. Most 6 year olds have better form trying to throw the ball 15 feet to a 10-foot basket. He's got such an obvious mental block about it, the only solution might be to break both his arms and shoulders, erase his memory, and rebuild him from scratch.
His nickname is "Goose"? So who is "Maverick" on that team? (Or rather, who isn't?) Nice coaching by Don Nelson. I find that when somebody has a real mental hangup, the best solution is to point out that mental hangup to as many people as possible. Nothing cures mental fragility like public shame and humiliation! And if Golden State ever decides to trade Biedrins, it's really nice of Nelson to point out to any prospective buyer how Biedrins has this hangup that's pretty much impossible to fix, no matter what you try. Nice coaching, Don. Any suggestions on how we should handle Webster? I think McMillan should hold a press conference where he says, "The kid fucking sucks. That's why we're dumping him in the D-league. Oh, and Patty Mills gets to keep his locker." What's your take?
I used to think that Cuban is fucking nuts - but seeing Don Nelson in GSW made me realize that as much as Cuban makes go "Whaaa"? - he was the sane one in that relationship...
I'd actually support Don there. Beans has been playing like a COMPLETE pussy all season. If hes injured and its affecting him that bad he shouldn't be out on the floor. His normally below par on-ball post defense is especially bad, his usually great rebounding has been mediocre, and his typically great success on the pick and roll has been complete trash. It took FOREVER for anyone to say anything about it. He was much more aggressive last night and even though he was still missing some inside shots and his extra activity didn't actually produce more the energy was great to see. I think he was given the benefit of the doubt on his play this season for far too long. Someone had to call him out.
Nellie is a genius at taking the pressure off of offensive players and allowing them to produce freely, but I guess you can't replicate a free flowing system when it comes to free throws. Look up and down Golden State's roster at how many of them are outperforming expectations... My hunch is, Biedrin's ineptitude at the line is closer to his true production in any other system (okay, that's an exaggeration) than is his high efficiency in the Nellie offense.
