It's like watching a rerun of The Twilight Zone. Guys falling down around their own net and pucks going past Lundqvist.

Yup he has failed this team badly. Sat on his hands before the playoffs two years ago and has done nothing to compliment the Nash move.

The biggest problem was oversigning Boyle and Pyatt, just killing the 4th line, which as we see with other teams can make all the difference. Especially when you have a weak top 6 to begin with.

The more I watch this team and the more I think that it was a mistake getting Nash. No doubt that he is very good player and the trade had to be made but he is way too soft and nonchalant at times. He has not made the team any better. Some stars just don't have it in them to lead the team to the championship.

I couldn't disagree more Step. There's not a star in hockey right now who could lead this group of imbeciles to a championship. Nash is one guy. Look at every good team in the league right now, there are at least 2 legitimate offensive threats or more. We have 1. Dubinsky and Anisimov weren't taking this team anywhere. If there is a trade to regret, it is the Gaborik one. He was the complimentary scorer this team is now lacking.

He has nobody to compliment him. It's like a sports car driving around with a bunch of economy cars.

Not doubt they need another scoring threat. I am not saying he has to do it all by himself. I was talking about being a team player and lead. Gaborik was another star player who cared less about winning any championships. He was also soft and nonchalant at times. Thats why he got ran out of town by Torts.
The kings and bruins won the cup without having any big stars on their club.

Exactly Mess. Name the second biggest offensive threat on any other contender right now and I can almost guarantee they will be lightyears better than this team's second biggest threat. I mean who is the second biggest threat, freakin Brad Richards? The only exception might be Boston, but they make up for it with size and depth. Funny, we have neither of those either.

After Kopitar the Kings have about 4 guys I'd take over anybody on our team after Nash. And the size and depth of the B's and Kings more than makes up for a lack of any front end talent.

Clune gets his 1st of the year, Hendricks his 2nd. These guys only look good against the Rangers, would have been nice to see Stralman step up and challenge Hendricks at the blue line on the Clune goal instead of waving his glove like he was hailing a cab.

Scrubs killing this team started in the playoffs 2 years ago with the Devils 4th line (Carter, Gionta and Bernier) killing this team. It just continues and then to make things worse this team NEVER gets ANY goals from either their 4th line or their 3rd line.

Cally out 6 weeks its game over. I don't even want them to make a trade at this point lets start over next year with a good core to build around.

The bottom 6 forwards on this team simply are incapable of scoring any goals. Pyatt was actually a useful player in Phoenix and Vancouver....He scored 80 goals over a 5 year period but he is TERRIBLE here. Just dreadful. Boyle cannot score in the regular season at all and plays small for a huge body. I hated Moore his 1st tour of duty here and he has been worse this year. Brassard is terrible and is actually pretty skilled. Hags goes in stretches where he cannot score. I liked the Pouliot signing but he has been awful. It is just amazing how many players we have averaging decent minutes who contribute absolutely NOTHING offensively.

The good news is as others have posted the dead weight is coming off next year and we have crazy cap space. I am hoping and praying that Sather steps down as GM at years end. <sigh>

I disagree sc on the issue being too long of deals for Boyle and Pyatt. Both got two years deals. Combined their cap hit is 3 mill. Is that good...of course not. But it also isn't the reason this team stinks and has no depth. Those deals could easily be wiped away just like Asham was and Powe is. The issue is just an overall crappy job by Sather not bringing in the right players. That's the issue.

And of course doing nothing at the trade DL two years ago when we had a team, for the ONLY ONLY ONLY time, under Sather that was actually good, and he did NOTHING was a joke. I said it was criminal then, and honestly most of you disagreed with me and said the future the future, and it is a flat out disgrace and Sather simply passing on doing his job that he did nothing. At the time I said chances like this don't come around every season. On and on. And Sather did nothing, and it was a disgrace. Still angers me, but it is water under the bridge now. No use wasting time complaining about two years ago I guess.
