<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MILWAUKEE -- Tony Battie nearly crumpled to the court in pain. He slowly rose from a crouch like a prizefighter and jogged to his position, keeping his limp left arm pinned to his side.

    Battie couldn't help but wince.

It's the face of the Orlando Magic's 2005-06 season.

Injuries have prevented the Magic from posting the record they envisioned.

Grant Hill has been a rumor. Kelvin Cato has had a lost season. Jameer Nelson is out. Even the bionic Bo Outlaw is on the mend.

Battie has been battered, but he plays on. He has played through sprains and bruises and other assorted aches like the tough throwback he is.

Injuries are mere inconveniences to Battie.

His latest annoyance is what he calls a "stinger,'' a nerve-numbing injury to the neck and/or shoulder area, more common to football players.

Battie received it while battling under the boards Monday night against the Washington Wizards.

He didn't take himself out of the game; Coach Brian Hill did.

"I could have kept playing,'' said Battie, who sat in front of his locker afterward, his shoulder and knees strapped with Ace bandages and ice.

Of course, he said, he'll play tonight when the Magic (19-27) face the Milwaukee Bucks (24-23).

Battie is only one of three Magic players -- the other two are Dwight Howard and DeShawn Stevenson -- who have not missed a game this season.</div>
