The Steelers were, hands down, the powerhouses of the NFL during the 70s. The Cowboys played neck and neck with them in two Superbowls and were only a half-step behind. There were other some other great teams of the 70s too. Every year, though, the 70s Cowboys seems to get snubbed for the Hall of Fame voting. There are many players in the HOF that played for the Cowboys, but there are only 5 players that were true long-term Cowboys. Count them....5. Staubach and Dorsett were gimmes. Lilly was a great player before the Cowboys were good. So as far as the Doomsday defense era is concerned....Randy White and Mel Renfro. Notice...none of the dominating OL. No LBs. No WRs. Hats off to the Steelers for getting like 9 players from the 70s in. They deserve it. However, I remember them squeaking by the Cowboys twice by 4 points through the heroics of Swann and Stallworth. The Cowboys must have overachieved (eye roll). Not to mention, we also won 2 in that decade. Even the Raiders have 6 or 7 from that era. This year, 3 Cowboys made the final 15. 2 made the final 6, which they could have inducted all of.....and then all of a sudden the committee decides to do 4 only and cuts the two Cowboys. No Rayfield Wright, no Bob Hayes, no Cliff Harris. What about Harvey Martin....Lee Roy Jordan....Chuck Howley.... As the article says: Sad that Rayfield Wright, a man the old-timers speak glowing of, that is all except for Deacon Jones, who to this day won't talk of the Cowboys offensive tackle who was an all-day sucker in the game of NFL football, must swallow hard after being rejected in his final shot to earn modern-day induction into the Hall of Fame. Wright, you see, is a classy man, and still was Saturday afternoon upon hearing the bad news. "We don't have anything to be sad about," Wright said. "It was a blessing we made it to the final six." I hate to see what happens when they get to the 90s players. This is getting old. I feel bad for the Patriots. Two Superbowls in 3 years and they probably won't get anyone in either because they "play as a team". Sheesh. http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?id=6...DFD57F57AF1F103
