he would have to absolutely dominate the league for the next month to be in the conversation.

Davis' biggest problem is his health. He just got back from missing two games with a shoulder injury.

He won't make it close, tonight he got 39mins, the most he's gotten in 2 1/2 months. Combined with missing more games, and Damian not falling off at all and the RoY race is over.

If he stays healthy the rest of the year, and gets these kind of minutes, it could get mighty interesting . . .

Let's keep in perspective who they played. Orlando might be the worst team in the league right now, and the Hornets still found a way to lose to them. That really nullifies his statistical output.

When legitimate teams play the Magic, their starters are usually riding the pine heading into the fourth.

"interesting" in that its not unanimous. I mean Swirsky's still in the league.

    Nope.

He could put up 17 and 15 for the remaining 21 games of the year and his season averages would still only be 13.9 and 9.9 over 67 games, compared to Damian's 18.5 and 6.5 over a projected 82? Not interesting.

And Davis isn't on a tear either, he's been out 2 games, and the 5 games prior to missing time he was at basically his season average of 13 and 8.

And, as usual, when Davis plays big minutes the Hornets lose - to a team that had only won 2 of it's previous 22 games.

One game does not "on a tear" make. Since Davis missed the previous 2 games, that makes 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks his total contribution over his team's last 3 games.

Damian Lillard, on the other hand, is on a bit of a tear. He just scored 20 points for the 3rd straight game. Lillard's contribution over his team's last 3 games: 70 points, 12 rebounds and 15 assists.

The is no rookie of the year race to be made interesting.

17 and 15 is a "tear"? Are you sure you didn't pull Hickson's stat line from just about every other game this season?

BTW, at his present scoring average, assuming Davis doesn't miss any more games (not exactly a safe assumption, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt), he'll score a total of 862 points this season. The ONLY ROY winner to ever score fewer than 826 points was the very first NBA Rookie of the Year, Monk Meineke in 1952-53.

The Davis jock sniffers will point out that he does so much more than score. Well, guess what, there is more to defense than blocking shots. The Hornets blocked a season high 10 shots tonight, including 4 for Davis, but were out scored 54-40 in the paint and gave up a season high 69 points in the second half to lose to the lowly Orlando Magic. So much for Davis' stellar interior defense.

Look, Davis may turn out to be a good player somewhere down the road, but the ROY "race" is over - and it's not close. Lillard's about to lap the field.

With Shooter's track record the next thing Davis is going 'tear' is his ACL.

Actually, with his record Davis will be a complete disappointment in the next two games.

Anthony Davis is no experiment, he's the real deal. The guy is going to be a major star in this league, and I'd love to somehow get him to Portland.

You were the guy who wanted us to draft Adam Morrison, and who thought Noah and Westbrook were going to be busts. If I were you, I wouldn't be talking about other people's "track records."

If Hickson were a rookie, he'd definitely be in the running for ROY.

Meyers Leonard is on a tear!!

Lillard better watch out, or he's going to have ROY competition from his own teammate!!

Not fear and panic, just a loathing of people with stupid opinions that aren't based in reality.
