And McLemore can only dream of being the defensive player or mid-range offensive threat Culver already is.

I would take jrue for future picks and expiring contracts in a heartbeat. Dude is a lockdown defender and a 20ppg scorer, we saw it first hand how good he is, maybe the most underrated player in the NBA. And he has a longterm contract. I dont know what the pelicans would want from him though

Hunter fits the roster like a glove imo. He doesn’t need to come in and be the man/closer. He can come in and focus on being the best 3&D man in the nba. He has the size and strength to guard 1-4, and he can work with Dame on handling the ball over the years. I see Kawhi because Kawhi was put in a similar situation in SA. Learn under great players.

Not saying Culver cant be a great player, I just think getting a true forward would be more valuable to our team in a hypothetical situation where we’d have Dame/Jrue/Simons.

You can throw Chicago in there too. Unless you can play with MJ why would you want to live there in the winter?

Which btw is why in the fake mock trade thread I traded for AD as the GM of the Suns. They were once a FA destination as well. In theory with the right coach and management , they should be able t keep their players. Just throwing that out there for you soon to be Fake Agents who will be deciding the fate of your clients in a couple weeks.

McLemore was a HUGE prospect coming out of Kansas though. Dude was getting comp’d to Ray Allen and Mitch Richmond.

I don't think Hunter's quick enough to guard the 1 or 2, though. And he'll get overpowered by 4s that play in the paint, IMO.

Again, it's a difference in opinion. I think Culver provides everything you say Hunter provides but has more upside.

Why on Earth would the Pelicans offer that?

He was, and I bought into the hype (although not to the level of those players).

But, again, McLemore's by-far chief asset was as a distance shooter. If that doesn't work (and it didn't), nothing else in his game was good enough to cover for that. Funny aside, but I wonder if he's a guy that could be a value FA for the Blazers, another reclamation project who could resuscitate his career here.

Getting back to Culver, though, Culver's calling card is defense and being able to create inside the arc while having a solid 3-point stroke. He's built like McLemore, but he has a lot more ways he can contribute.

Hey, these guys just traded without getting Kuzma or unloading Hill's contract. They MIGHT just be that inept .....

CJ value all time high, he fits the new roster better than Jrue, players available at 4 don’t fit their new roster.

I’d take Culver if the trade were different for sure.

For example if it were Ingram, Moore, Hill, 4, and 39 for CJ I’d take Culver.

They can't combine Ingram with other players in a trade like that until mid-August now.

I guess, but CJ for Jrue is a pretty even trade. I'd be shocked if any team included the #4 pick as well. You guys are way undervaluing that pick, even in a weak draft.

How does getting a shoot first guard with way worse defense in CJ fit their roster better than Jrue? Why not keep Jrue and trade Lonzo somewhere else if that's the problem? At the very least they could get something really good for Jrue without having to give up the 4th pick too.

Speaking of the 4th pick, why not just take the best player and trade others that don't fit your roster? I'm not a huge Zion believer, but if I was the Pelicans my only concern would be building around him. I don't think they can go wrong with Culver, Hunter, or Garland.

There's no way NO does that trade. Jrue is equal to CJ. Why would they give up the #4 in addition?

That trade is ridiculously bad for them, and would never happen.
