Link I love Rawle Marshall's game, and he's a great steal to be picked up as an unsigned Free Agent. I think that he got looked over just because he played at Oakland, a small school. His numbers were great last year, and he supposedly did very well in workouts though. My only concern is that the Grizzlies don't need another SG/SF on the roster. Hell, they just signed Winston. Just look at this mess: Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal, Dahntay Jones, Bonzi Wells, Andre Emmett, Hakim Warrick, Kennedy Winston, and now Rawle Marshall. As for Roberson, I've had chances to see him live from the time he was a High School Senior to the time he was a University of Florida Junior, and my opinion has changed on him over time. When I saw him in High School, I honestly thought I was looking at a future top ten pick. He amazed me with his combination of ball handling and range. He seemed to have the heart and the head for the game at the time. However, he never really lived up to his potential at Florida, and he really made me think twice about his heart. I'd attend games and see him completely ignoring the plays coach Donovan was calling or arguing with teammate Matt Walsh. He did a lot of smack talking at Florida too, which often backfired in his face. More importantly though, he didn't seem like much of a Point Guard anymore to me. Although a great ballhandler, he was more of a shoot-first Point Guard who didn't have the best passing skills, something I was hoping he'd improve upon in his college career. I like this signing for Memphis better than I like any of the Grizzlies' other signings though, because Roberson actually fills a need, and I think we may actually see Roberson receive some serious playing time with Williams' and Watson's futures in the air.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Schaddy:</div><div class="quote_post">your boy marshall on your team? this is like the celts picking gomes for thrilla</div> Well, I'd be happy, but players on the Summer League rosters aren't necessarily players who are planning on being the regular season roster but are rather there to just showcase their skills to all the teams in the league. Even if the Grizzlies did decide to pick him up, he'd likely go to the NBDL, and if he didn't go to the NBDL, he'd be a 5-10 minute per game player for the Grizzlies. I'd be very excited if Marshall was signing a 5-year contract with the Grizzlies and was promised a spot as a starter, but realistically, he might not even play one minute of NBA basketball for Memphis. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I thought Marshall signed with the Mavericks.</div> This is what I was talking about when I said that players on the Summer League rosters aren't necessarily players who are planning on being on regular season roster. Marshall will play for the Mavericks in the Reebok Las Vegas Summer League, and he will play for the Grizzlies in the Summer Pro-Am League.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Winston and Florida guard Anthony Roberson are among the six SEC early entrants not selected in the draft last Tuesday. Roberson, unlike Winston, didn't part with his representatives (SFX) but both carry the same label -- free agent -- as the Griz decide who to take to the Summer Pro-Am League at Long Beach, Calif. The Grizzlies will play games against the L.A. Lakers, Dallas, Miami and Toronto from July 8-21. "It was very disappointing," Winston said of watching the NBA draft unfold without his name being called. "I felt like I should have been in the first round. Everything I was hearing was mid-to-late first round." Roberson believed that he had reliable information, too. "My projection was late first round to early second round -- somewhere between 20-35," Roberson said. "Things didn't fall that way. The good thing is the draft only lasts a day. Life goes on. You have things like that happen, and you have to move forward. It was a night that was very surprising for me. At the end of the day, I think everything happens for a reason." Roberson can't worry too much about why no team invested in him on draft night. He just has to prove he can run an NBA team. Winston's worry is to keep making shots, and prove he could be another Richard Hamilton. Winston drew comparisons to the Detroit guard before the draft.</div> Griz Give 2 a Shot
