Thats the rumoured deal that could happen..Knicks have offered it...who is this a good deal for? spree on the wing with Pierce could be good.Which allows the perkins kid to be give a chance at PF for Boston. While walker would play the SF spot in NY...which many say is his natural spot on the floor. And allows dice if heathly to be the main PF...with sweetney off the bench. In this deal some players could be added in it seems...

Yah, I saw this on ESPN Insider, I wonder if the Celtics would do this.

Here is an article on it

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scott Layden's plan to revamp the Knicks roster could include Celtics All-Star power forward Antoine Walker.
The Knicks and Celtics have had serious discussions in recent days concerning a deal for Walker, according to a league source.

A potential deal could include Latrell Sprewell, whose contract matches Walker's. Or Boston could be looking to cut payroll by adding several lower-salaried players, including Kurt Thomas. A third team may have to be involved in order to complete the deal.

Walker, who will turn 27 in August, has averaged 20.8 points and 8.7 rebounds in seven NBA seasons. But the 6-9 forward was severely outplayed by Kenyon Martin in the Nets' four-game second-round sweep of Boston. Walker averaged just 14 points and shot 34% in the series.

Since the Celtics' playoff exit, Walker has been the subject of several trade rumors, including one to his hometown Chicago Bulls. While Walker is a talented albeit moody player, many teams have been turned off by his contract, which calls for him to make $28 million over the next two seasons.

Sprewell is also scheduled to earn $28 million over the next two seasons, although his contract includes an opt out clause for July 2004. The Knicks have been looking to move Sprewell since last summer but have found few willing partners.

Layden, the Knicks president, has a surplus of power forwards on his roster and that position became even more crowded with the additions of Mike Sweetney and Maciej Lampe during last week's NBA draft. Layden would not hesitate to trade Thomas, Clarence Weatherspoon or Othella Harrington.

And although the Celtics drafted a point guard, they could be in the market for Charlie Ward, whose contract expires after the 2003-04 season. Ward's contract also includes a buyout clause for $2 million, which can be exercised starting tomorrow.

Layden's interest in Walker makes sense on many levels. Antonio McDyess is coming off knee surgery and may miss a second straight season. And since Larry Johnson retired, the Knicks have been devoid of a true low-post scorer.

Last season, Don Chaney ran his offense through Sprewell. With Walker on the team, the Knicks could feature him either in the post or as a point forward.

I would go for that...as knicks need to have someone else just in case dice gets injuried again...

Blech, I don't really like this deal for either team.

For New York- do you really want to watch 'Toine and Houston jack up three's like its all-star weekend while Mcdyess, Sweetney and Kurt Thomas all try to post up on the same block waving frantically for the ball before giving up and jogging downcourt because their sick of chasing down long rebounds? I'd be nice to see New York with a real SF again instead of the misplaced Spreewell, but at least Spree' takes the ball to the rack and gets to the line once in a while. Replacing him with Walker means no one on New York's roster can penetrate a defense and no one can run or score in transition. Plus at least Spreewell can guard smaller '3's, Walker can't guard ANYONE. I'd rather have a skilled defender who makes an effort (even if he's undersized) than a lazy, boorish defender any day of the week. Seriously, most of you at least play some pick-up ball. Who would you rather have guarding you A guy who is a bit taller than you but lazy and stiff? Or an athletic defender who busts his ass guarding you but is a 2 inches shorter?

For Boston- Don't Spree and Paul Pierce play the position. By that I don't mean shooting guard and small-forward, but they both play the same role in their team's offenses. The reality of it is that Spree needs the ball in his hands to do his thing and I can't imagine him being effective without the rock. Plus without 'Toine who rebounds for Boston? They are already a poor rebounding team and if you think Vin Baker or anyone they drafted is going to help then you're only kidding yourself. Not only that, but adding Spreewell will only stunt Kedrick Brown's development by eating all his minutes. If they add Spreewell they might as well admit they wasted the 11th overall pick on Brown (when Vladimir Radmonivich, Troy Murphy, Richard Jefferson, Zach Randolph, Tony Parker and Jamaal Tinsley were still available no less).

If this deal goes down it could seriously hurt both teams and I'll wonder how two of the League's proudest franchise from the glory days of the 1980's could have fallen so far. Here's hoping its only a rumour.

The story says that the Knicks are opening up talks by offering Latrell Sprewell since both players will make about $28M over the next two seasons but will also consider a package that would include Kurt Thomas, Charlie Ward, Clarence Weatherspoon and/or Othello Harrington.

Don't know, seeing as Walkers contract is fairly large, probably no one else.

This is the deal on the table.

    Sprewell for Walker
    Salary Match and years too.

I really hate this trade. Walker is suppose to be a low post player but is too scared to do that. He just keeps on talking a million of three's which I hate. He will just ruin the team. Even though I hate spree. I still don't want walker.

    Walker could change his game

way chaney wants it.As clearly celtics shoot threes thats what they do...on a new team i think he would have to change his game and be more a post player...chaney won't take any sh!t..if he wants AW to play more of an inside game he will have to_Obie wants walker to take alot of threes...as i said thats all they do.

NY would win this trade..walker afterall is a 20,8 and 5 player...
