Seems like a good unit. Why does it have to be installed by a contractor?

It's not that uncommon for a manufacturer to require a certified technician trained for their system if you want a warranty. Otherwise some schmuck can try and do the install themself and then complain because it isn't working right.

Daikin is good. Mitsubishi is really good.

In theory you can totally install it yourself..... but you'd have to find someone to sell you just the unit. Probably can buy it online.

About 15 years ago, I had a Mitsubishi wall mounted system installed by a dealer. It worked like new the entire time.

When I sold that house about a year ago, the inspection found the dealer had not installed it to code. The dealer was a schmuck.

Just replaced a delta faucet insert that I was tooooooo lazy to bother with because it had only dribbled out the stem when the faucet was on.

Dumbass contractor put the spring between the seal and the insert instead of putting the seal between the insert and the spring. Can't believe it worked as well as it did.

    Mine was an electrical issue.

Some dealers take shortcuts, or, rush a job.

I replaced a couple of lights in the house. Stuff not hooked up right. Spent a few hours taking every light switch and light apart. Loose screws on half.
