In my opinion Indiana will not be able to get much value for JO. some expirers and one nice prospect or a draft pick might do it. I say #10 and Marcus should be enough of value. Stro+KVH+Hassell must be added to match salary. (maybe resigned Krstic instead of Hassell) After that we still have RJ, the #21, #40 and some nice young pieces (Krstic, Sean, Boone) while Brand is still available. Lets work out something for him too. (Hopefully he opts out, and settles for a contract starting around 13 mill... ) Having a starting lineup with Harris, VC, Brand and JO might be enough to get pretty far next year Im thinking something like: Harris/FA VC/Ager Boki/Hassell Brand/Boone JO/FA The free agents have to be minmum guys to stay under the tax, but Boston did pretty fine with a bench like that this year. (and we can always sign the PJ Brown, Cassell, Ratliff and Damon Stoud.. type veterans at the deadline, to boost the bench)
Getting JO will take much more than Williams, a draft pick and two expiring contracts. Indiana want some real value back, probably some rotation players, a pick or two, an expiring contract AND young talent (see: Kidd to Dallas). I don't think we can realistically believe that bringing both guys here is an option, not to mention the fact that they're both very injury prone and building your team around three injury prone players around the age of 30 (JO, Brand, VC) isn't smart.
Jefferson+#10+#40+Marcus+KVH+STRO+Hassell Tht must be enough.. I'd say thts appropriate With O'neal, no Brand please.
that bench would suck, we'd be weak at the 3 and 5, and that would be the most injury prone frontcourt in the league. #10, Marcus, and cap relief is way too much to give up for JO. If we're gonna take on a risky bigman, I'd rather Randolph. RJ for him, Lee, and #6. Cheaper, stays on the court more, probably better, and we can get assets along with him.
I hope you all find another player to obsess over, because three years of these JON threads are starting to make me feel like monkeys are loose in my skull stabbing my brain.

I can't figure out why some people still want JO. He's an injury waiting to happen. It's not worth it to acquire him if he's not even going to play more than 52 games.

Therefore he has an all time low trade value. But just the same way as in VC's case, all he needs might be just a little change of scenery. I say Marcus and the number 10 pick with the above mentioned expirers could get him here, and I really beleive he is worth the risk. (It's no risk anyway, since we absolutely don't need the assets that we would give up for him) then getting Brand forexample for RJ+Sean+no40 would just totally make our frontcourt unstoppable. Yes they might be injury prone, but we still would have Boone and Krstic on the bench... Not bad I say. With Vince and Harris in the backcourt our only need would be a serviceable wing. Yes the bench would suck, but as I just said proven veterans would allways want to come to a team like that for the minimum salary.

I thought at least someone would agree

Jermaine on the other hand is definitely injury prone. If it's between Brand or O'Neal you take Brand and run.
