I don't know. He may be a "D-Bag" to some degree, but all I can say is that I've seen a guy that works his ass off in spite of some ball hog teammates. No, he's not Hakeem Olajuwon, but I can understand his desire for touches and having the ability to offensively effect the game. That's just basketball; when it comes to offense, everybody wants some. Imagine Dame having the option of dumping it down low to Howard and getting easy wide open threes from kick outs. I genuinely think Howard would thrive with Dame and CJ.
Id take Dwight for a one year max contract if we can't land anyone else. Might as well spend the cap space But I'd rather have him on a 2yr $30M contract with a team option for the 3rd year. Leaving us space to sign someone else this year or next.
Probably no player in the league wants to be liked more than DHoward and he hasn't been since he got Stan fired in Orlando really...he wants to be the good guy worse than anything...craves the attention
Portland is a good place to become loved again. After he starts playing good our fans will eat him up, I can see it now.
Eh I didn't like what he said. Sounded like he believes he should be getting consistent on-the-block touches... Just not the man's skill set. Which is sad because a Howard playing to his strengths can help almost any team in the NBA.
Dwight handled himself very well in the interview. He seems like a nice guy off the court, but on the court he is a whiner who takes himself out of many games arguing with refs or getting in bickering contest with the opposing players.
I just think he'd love playing with Dame and CJ. He'd get enough touches and would enjoy the unselfish vibe of the team.
