My department is getting moved to the outskirts of Pittsburgh, and they might try to send me with it. Has anyone been there?

I've been there on two different occasions for work. Stayed there 10 days or so.
I can honestly say it is the one city ive been to that my preconceived notions if it were wrong. I always thought it would be this dirty industrial town like Cleveland or Milwaukee.

I thought that town was dope. Didn't get to see a ton of it, be cause I was so busy, but I really like the downtown area. They turned an old dock area into this hip Pearl District type area.

Can't give too many specifics, but I thought it was a cool city.

If you have to ask, you don't know.

General rule when considering a forced transfer for work is just say no.

Hated it when I went there, but it was 20 years ago. A lot can change in 20 years. The pearl was a shit hole then.

Exactly my impression, too. It's a beautiful confluence of rivers. I expected gritty ugliness.

Of course, I was there in Superbowl week 1979, so maybe I just perceived the happy Steeler vibes.

Back in the 70's and earlier Pittsburgh was pretty nasty. The city has made a great comeback though. It's now a nice place to live.

Pittsburgh is freaking great! Take the transfer. The worst that will happen is you'll see a bit of the country you wouldn't have and fill yourself on delicious Primanti Bros. sandwiches.

Wife makes 142% of my current salary, and it doesn't look like they are offering me a fatty raise, so we'll just have to settle on visiting the place someday.
