I can't even muster up the hatred to root against anybody right now, Portland is such a shitshow with no real end in sight unless (MAYBE) the team gets sold. Anyone got a team they can really get behind in the playoffs?
(Cue @Rastapopoulos making another thread that just doesn't need to be made) sorry that's pretty much always in the cued up.
I'm Trailblazers 365/24/7. I have hope that Joe & his Crew can get it done. I would like The Nuggets to do well because my buddy in Denver is a Nuggets Freak. But other than that, i totally hope Mercenary Durant & the Suns FAIL bigtime. The Mavdiks as well. I always boycott anything to do with the Fakers/Keltics. But i would actually watch a Nuggets vs. Bucks/Sixers or Basston Finals.
It's like the 5th or 6th thing down the list on ESPN. The NBA has fallen hard from where it used to be. We're nearing the playoffs and it's currently below UFC, men's and women's college basketball, MLB, and PGA Tour. It's pretty clear that ESPN doesn't give a shit about the NBA.
? I mean ? Did ESPN cancel NBA today and start some show called golf today? This usually isn't you but today it seems to be. Some of you view this shit through Blazers tinted glasses and they aren't rosy. We suck right now, so somehow you guys think that means NBA basketball sucks right now. Ratings are up this season from last season. More people in the US are subscribed to league pass than ever have been before and that's despite all of the piracy availability. Obviously the NFL is bigger but that's nothing new. Obviously for the past few weeks NCAA basketball has been bigger, that's nothing new either. If you think the UFC or MMA are bigger (and I'm a huge fight fan) you're off your fucking rocker. If you think golf as a spectator sport is bigger, you're just wrong. If you think that baseball is bigger then you haven't been paying attention for over a decade probably over two decades now. No one gives a shit about the NBA all star game or weekend... that's fallen off but other than that everything else is up, including coverage. If you think the UFC is bigger it's hilarious but just understand that the biggest journalist (by a huge margin) in MMA just got a gig doing an NBA show for Showtime and he's calling that the biggest dream come true of his career, that he loves. Edit: I just did some very simple research. I logged out of my ESPN.com account to see how the sports line up across the top under the score ticker. It's NFL... then NBA followed by NCAAM, NCAAW, NHL, MLB. I know that's not a statistic but I think it's somewhat telling.
You don’t really believe that right? This is just another angry post right? Oh you mean they are prepping/talking about the Final Four/The Masters/ and Opening Day of baseball? Some of the biggest events in the world of sport….. And you claim they don’t care about the NBA? What happened to you to make you so sour.
I honestly don't think it matters. I think we're a small market NBA team and would sell for around 3B right now whether we were contenders, if we are what we are which is a bottom dweller with a superstar on the roster or if we were a bottom dweller with nothing but young prospects. I don't think a sports franchise's value is tied to the current state of their competitiveness, I think it's tied to the overall value of franchises in the league and the media market that the team is in. Now if there was a Yao Ming out there who could pull in a billion people then maybe that could punch up the price a tick but I don' think Dame is that, I don't even think our franchise would be worth more with Wemby, Giannis or LBJ on the roster with a long term contract. Maybe I'm wrong though, it's just the way it seems to me.
Really? You think with the nba being in that rudder mode( where some teams are tanking) Should garner more attention at the moment than opening day of mlb, that has some major rule changes? Or march madness? Golf and UFC i believe are also more global than the nba. Im a Blazers only guy. Don't watch much of anything else these days but the Seahawks and late playoffs of sports. But i get why this time of year the nba doesn't get much attention.
it's a strange time for Blazer fans to follow the NBA. If we see opponents do well, and they have an affordable contract, we get to hear about Cronin's magical ability to get these amazing players on the Blazers next season.
Since the tank I’ve been watching pro tennis. A really pure sport and I’ll probably not watch much nba until next season. Havent enjoyed the nba much recently
1. I picture you just WAITING for a thread by me so you can open it and post this amazing burn. It's not the life I'd choose, but to each his/her own. 2. Given how redundant this thread is, no doubt this is your only post in it, right?
No only thing I care about right now are losses and watching Sharpe play. IMO- free throws are ruining the game. We are seeing guys get 10-20 free throws it slows down the game. Offensive players literally jump into defenders and get foul calls. Need flow back in the game to many stoppages. I say new free throw rule. 1st free throw counts as 2 if you miss you get 2nd free throw counts as 1. On threes they shoot all three. Tired of watching game stop every other time down court. Side note- I like baseballs new rules picks up pace of game, more steals and movement to the game. It’s ok to make changes
Has anyone else noticed how hard ESPN is pumping women's college basketball? It will be interesting to see if they push the WNBA this hard over MLB.
It seems to be working. I saw the Iowa/Louisville game had a higher rating than any of ESPN's NBA games this season.
