They say the nets are shopping Jason Kidd around to free up cap space for re-signing Kenyon Martin. What could we offer for Jason Kidd?

This is unbelievable. If this is true than what the hell are they thinking? They were a lottery team before Kidd came aboard and turned them into a respectable team and back to back Eastern Conference championships.

I would do everything and anything possible to get him.

Well look at the nets situation. They are trying to build around a young core of Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson and they are close to being way over the cap in the next 4 years. Those guys are young and are close to being perennial all stars and they are worried about letting Kmart get away for nothing.

He runs the fast break better than anybody in the NBA and that is where those players flurish, especially Jefferson. Take Kidd away and that would create some problems.

Jason Kidd a Warrior would be a coup if he were to join...This team could use a guy with Kidd's skills, and i can see Kidd pretty much making the Warriors a threat in the NBA West,or close to it

Also Kidd grew up in the Bay Area, domninated at St.Joseph's High in Alameda Ca,than went on to Dominate UC Berkeley, and i've heard him say years ago, that he was a BIG Warriors fan growing up.it would be nice to see Kidd return home..I Hope it get's done, cause with Kidd on the team,i see this team going places??

Yeah even in his mid 30's his passing and playmaking are something else. Plus he's a good defender. I would love this. And if somehow Paul Pierce can make his way out here...

I would give up Dampier as a sign and trade, and Speedy Claxton.

Don't mean to bump an old thread but it is being reported that Jason Kidd is demanding a trade after the Nets shipped Kittles off. Any thoughts on where he'll go?

Salaries are extremely tough to match up now that we've traded off Van Exel. (Not like having him would have made the deal either, though.) I don't think Damp would agree to be traded NJ because they're in such a cost cutting mode right now, so a sign and trade is out of the question unless a third team became involved. We have to give up at least 3 players to get Kidd. Thus, we'd probably have little chance landing Kidd unless a miracle happens.

I am not really sure Kidd will be effective when he gets old. Currently, he relies on his speed and court vision to be excellent. But pretty soon, he will lose few steps, and at that time, I have no idea how effective he can be. Stockton was still effective when he was 40, but then his jumper was still one of the top in the league, when Kidd still can't throw the ball to the ocean. If we can make the deal, this deal will help us at the beginning and probably crush us financially after 2-3 years. Besides, Nets will probably wish quite a lot (a lot more than just expiring contracts), so I probably would not trigger this deal...

Well we are probably already headed toward salary over the cap hell... Here's the thing, Jason Kidd seems like the kind of person who would gripe to the media a lot. It's understandable but it's not going to be good for a team that is probably another decade away from the championships, if not the playoffs. I'd be happy if we get wiped out in the post season as the 8th or 7th seed because at least we made it to the playoffs.
