Tiki Mayben was a Brooklyn star. He was supposed to go to SU, but didn't do good enough in school...so he ended up at UMass for a year, where he didn't do much. James Thomas went to Texas, and was a rebounding machine. He averaged 11 and 11 for his junior season, but got injured his senior year, and battled through injuries throughout that season. He ended up trying out for a few teams and playing overseas...and ended up playing in the D-League, and getting Rookie of the Year. Both are playing in this basketball tournament in Utica, and getting to watch them play together is quite the treat. I get to see Thomas block shot after shot, and go on the other end and dunk all over everyone. I love watching Tiki yack kids left and right, and go on to make some incredible layup or crazy pass - he's such a good passer. Also in the tournament are Billy Edelin, Josh Wright, Lazarus Sims, Dayshaun Wright, Lataiva Escho, and this big man...I forget his name.
