Its from this weeks power rankings.... 8. Portland Trail Blazers — The biggest "all O, no D" team in the NBA, it's not even close, and nobody knows about it because Nate McMillan has this team barely evading eight second violations every time down court. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...t=AkG_l9SBXSouaStPUd7NNk68vLYF?urn=nba,124199
I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean. Nobody can tell we don't play defense because we are slow to bring the ball upcourt? Huh? barfo
yes, apparently, if we brought the ball up past half-court any faster, our entire lack of defense would be revealed by opposing teams' 145 points every night. Only by slowing the game down by using all of the 8 seconds can we keep teams under 100.
Yeah, they're not the company they used to be . . . Paul can probably have a garage sale this weekend and have enough proceeds to buy them out, Board of Directors not withstanding.
Why is our defense bad? What can we do to improve? If ZBo was here, would we blame him? And why is Greg getting pushed around on the defensive end? Roy said that he is better than Dwight Howard.
We get stung fairly frequently from the outside. Guards drive to the hoop without punishment every game also. I'd like our guards to play them tight at the 3pt line, and our bigs to knock them down real hard any time they drive. I'd be happy with that.
That sounds like a plan. Gosh I want Greg to block shots out there. Something's up with him these last two games. He hasn't even tried. That's the only reason I'm depressed tonight. I'm worried about Greg and who he'll become in this league. He doesn't look like a #1 pick. And I don't care that he's been out for a year. He should still look better than he has, IMO.
One thing that I have liked about Oden, though, is his passing. He gets a couple good assists every game. I'm happy about that.
just a few games ago you were saying he is already better than andrew bynum..greg is a rookie, he is going to be inconsitent. he has plenty of things to learn about in the NBA, and he is still getting in foul trouble. he still isn't even in shape yet, give the big guy some time.
Shaq and DRob played much better as a rookie. Greg did drop 22 & 10 though. But we lost. I suppose I'd rather have the 3 & 5 in a win. After we won the #1 pick, KP said that both Durant and Oden were "immediate impact" players. It turns out neither was. Or is yet.
He's saying... we're not a running, fast-break easy buckets type of team so most wouldn't think of us as one of the best offensive teams in the league. Usually the slower, deliberate teams are good at defense, not so good at offense. I am surprised by our offensive rankings as well, although after having watched all the games our defensive team rankings are pretty obvious.
They have good writers over there at Blahoo. Look at this amazing piece... Or this brilliant post. Wow this Kelly Dwyer person likes the word sucks... awesome and talented writer she is. And here she is again displaying her talent. And apparently her nick name is "Skeets" - I wonder if anyone over there at Blahoo even knows what Skeet means LOLOLOL
FYI... Kelly Dwyer is a dude used to right his shite for SI, but I guess they dumped his sorry ass... trys to hard to be clever and really isn't.
This is absolutely right. Our point guards are bad perimeter defenders. Just bad. The only guy that seems to be able to stay in front of other point guards is Bayless - and he gets no burn.
Please. Shaq and David Robinson were both older with much more college experience as rookies. And most importantly, neither was coming off major knee surgery. You jump on and off the Oden bandwagon so fast I'm worried about YOU suffering a career ending injury. Give the kid a chance. Let him learn the game and play his way back into shape. He's already shown glimpses of what he can do. Once he's in shape and has some more experience at the NBA level, he'll be more than fine - much more. BNM
