http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-menendez-employed-undocumented-sex-offender/ The AP reports that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.Y.) employed as an unpaid intern a registered sex offender who was in the country illegally, and that the Department of Homeland Security told federal agents not to arrest the teenager until after Election Day.
All politics suck! Washington — The Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking website PolitiFact on Wednesday named Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's ad falsely claiming Chrysler Group LLC planned to move Jeep production to China as its "Lie of the Year." The site called the claim "brazenly false." The controversy — which began when a blogger misinterpreted a Bloomberg News story and Romney picked up the claim that Chrysler was considering moving all U.S. Jeep production to China — dominated much of the coverage of the presidential campaign's final two weeks. "People often say that politicians don't pay a price for deception, but this time was different: A flood of negative press coverage rained down on the Romney campaign, and he failed to turn the tide in Ohio, the most important state in the presidential election," PolitiFact said. From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20121212/AUTO0101/212120407#ixzz2Es0cxix9 No point in questioning the election results, they won't change and both sides engaeged in ugly politics during the campaign.
I don't think these guys can know for sure if everyone they hire are legal. I have no beef with that. It's the burying it until after the election part that raises one of my eyebrows.
I see it just the opposite. I can see a politician playing politics with it, but hiring a registered sex offender & undocumented worker is criminal.
Millions of people are in the U.S. illegally for trivial reasons, like they haven't renewed their green cards. They contribute greatly to the economy, doing jobs the rest of us don't want. This isn't such a job, but I don't see any reason to get worked up over the guy applying for a non-menial job.
The lie of the year was the President and his cabinet claiming that Amb. Stevens and others were killed over a video, when there was literally no evidence that ever suggested it. That one is obvious. Susan Rice just withdrew from a SoS nomination because of her role in spreading that lie to the masses.
No. There's no case where the govt. should decide who can spend what and say what during an election or about our elected officials.
