I've been using Spotify for years. Probably close to 10 years even. I've really liked it. I considered Apple Music, but was concerned that the audio quality at 256kbit was inferior to Spotify's, and that was reason enough to stick with Spotify. I have a new Apple Watch 3 on the way and it doesn't support Spotify (no spotify app yet, if ever), nor does the FitBit watch support it. Apple Music offers 3 months for free, so I figured I'd give it a try. The audio quality seems better, to me. It's louder and clearer, with better dynamic range. That's to my semi-trained ears. I was able to copy all my playlists from Spotify to Apple Music with an iPhone app that cost me $2.99. Worth every penny. I'm just about ready to pull the plug on Spotify. There is a downside. Apple Music doesn't play on android phones, or linux computers. But it does play on Apple TV, which is cheap enough and easy to hook up to a sound system. Go Blazers!
We are on Apple music. I like that there is a family account available and that you can literally download anything you want.
Spotify has a similar family account. I think music discovery is better in Spotify, but not by that much.
I've enjoyed it. I switched from Samsung to iphone and have enjoyed the switch with Apple music. It's easy to manage. I tried spotify early on and didn't like it. To each their own though.
On Spotify, I found my favorite artists and made a playlist per album for the ones I care about. I grew up listening to albums so the order of the songs means a lot. Especially something like The Wall by Floyd. The artists spent a lot of time selecting song order to create the mood they wanted. I figure most of the time I want to hear the way they intended. When I shuffle play random song playlists, it’s more like radio. Apple Music hasn’t made the album thing, or even really finding albums and artists as easy as Spotify. It’s all search. Smart folders don’t do quite what I want. I’ll get used to it.
