Sorry for the delay. We had some technical difficulties out here and I don't have a wireless card.

** Tempo is a big deal. Wade Phillips kept telling the players to keep moving from one play to the next.

** Funniest drill: during station work the players got to whack their teammates to simulate a gauntlet while wearing arm pads. Two guys fumbled, Chris Canty and Patrick Watkins. Dave Campo was running the drill and when the linebackers finished, Kevin Burnett said, "Campo, you up next."

** Desperados offensive linemen Terrance Dotsy attended the morning workout. He lives in Oxnard.

** Assistant LB coach Dat Nguyen had the inside linebackers working on their drops, finding the receiver and then going for the ball.

** FB Deon Anderson had a terrific lead block on Kevin Burnett during team-run drills that partially lifted the linebacker off his feeet.

** LB Anthony Spencer took some turns with the first team with Greg Ellis taking a break. Ellis said he knows the plan and is cool with the plan.

** Adam Jones should be the punt returner this year and I will predict he will have some breath-taking 7-yard returns in which he tries to take a punt from the left side to the right side. It's hard to say he will break the team record for a punt return (98 yards by Dennis Morgan in 1974 vs. St. Louis) but he will have a 90-plus yard return this year ... provided he is fully re-instated.

** A little inside info on being a gunner on the punt team: Tight ends coach John Garrett told the players the best gunners are the ones that make the blockers come to them and commit. It's a balance between patience and urgency. Sam Hurd and Miles Austin are pretty good at it, which is surprising because they are receivers.

** Tony Romo's prettiest throw of the morning workout went to Terrell Owens. Owens started in the slot, motioned in and came back to his original slot before sneaking by Terence Newman in coverage. It wasn't like Newman was beaten badly. The throw was perfect.

** DeMarcus Ware sent tight end Tony Curtis to the ground in team drills for what would have been a sack of Romo. Anthony Spencer had a would-be sack of Brad Johnson after overpowering fullback Ronnie Cruz.

** RB Alonzo Coleman has some juice. He can hit the hole quickly and is so low to the ground that he has good contact balance. But I still think he's trailing Tashard Choice in the No. 3 RB race. Choice had a good day too.

** Too many players were on the ground in the morning practice with the coaches repeatedly saying, "Stay up." It takes some time to get used to the action, but the coaches don't want players on the ground so they can avoid injuries.

** Romo and Jason Witten hooked up on three out of four passes in team drills. The only miss came on a poor throw by Romo on a waggle play. It even led Romo to cuss.

Greg Ellis is "ok" with Spencer taking reps on the 1st team? Is this the sign of the apocalypse?
