QUOTE

Did Phil Jackson accidentally let the cat out of the bag last night during his press conference? While speaking on the health of Chris Mihm and congratulating Andrew Bynum on his rebounding effort of late, Jackson stated, “When and if Kwame comes back, it’s going to put a crimp in our center situation.”

If Kwame comes back? I had heard some of the rumors going around the league about the Lakers trying to move Brown, but thought those that wanted to do salary dump type moves would be waiting until later in the season to do so. It wasn’t Phil just saying if Kwame comes back, it was the added negative of putting a crimp in the Lakers center situation that would leave one to believe that Kwame may have seen his last game in a Lakers uniform.

If Kwame is being traded he might not be the only Lakers player leaving. Now that Lamar Odom is back and starting as a small forward, former starter Luke Walton is now relegated to coming off of the bench, and Vladimir Radmanovich’s minutes will have to be cut severely. The two contracts of those players could possibly net the Lakers some high priced talent.

The Lakers also have a log jam at the point guard position. Derek Fisher is the current starter, with second year first round pick Jordan Farmar coming off the bench. Farmar’s game has been exceptionally strong so far this year and I doubt the Lakers would move him since his game has looked better than Fisher's so far. That leaves Sasha Vujacic and this years first round pick Javaris Crittendon as part of a possible trade as well.

The Lakers front office for months now have been telling Kobe that they would do something to improve the team in an effort to get them back to championship contention. In my opinion it would take a miracle to acquire a great player in a trade that includes Kwame Brown. With Brown comes a great deal of baggage, even if a team only has to deal with it for a year.

I'm not sure the Lakers should trade any of their big men unless they get a really good defensive player in return. The health of this team is always a huge concern and I like having the depth and quality off the bench to fill those positions.

Chris Mihm had a solid game last night against a weak TWolves team, but he's going to break down at some point because his body isn't used to the grind of an 82 game season.

Same for Bynum, he was lethargic in the Hornets game and the Lakers really missed Kwame in that matchup to bang Chandler around. I prefer the 3-Headed monster right now, it's a huge advantage for us.

It's time for Kwame Brown to leave in some way shape or form. They gave up an all-star for him and after a decent (defensively wise) first season he's been complete garbage. No one will give any mediocre player for Kwame Brown, Lakers should just wait to dump his contract in free agency then pick up someone else.

Lakers don't have any caproom next year. They spent that on Radman an Fisher.

Unless the Lakers get another big man back in the deal I'd rather just keep Kwame around. If we trade Kwame and either Bynum or Mihm gets injured for an extended period of time, we're screwed.
