Is it just me or is Jason Terry not the right guy for the job? right now, out lineups are most likely.... PG - Terry SG - 'Quis SF - Finely PF - Dirk C - Damp Bench: PG - Harris SG - Stack SF - Howard PF - Henderson C - Booth Stack needs to be traded for a good PG and/or good bench players. I really dont like Terry that much, he just doesnt seem to be the right person to run the point, so hopefully we can trade Stack + Terry for something. Maybe something like Stack + Terry for Kidd + A-Train. ------------------------------------------------------- Dallas trades: SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes) PG Jason Terry (16.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.3 minutes) Dallas receives: PF Aaron Williams (6.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 18.6 minutes) PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes) Change in team outlook: -8.9 ppg, +2.7 rpg, and +0.9 apg. New Jersey trades: PF Aaron Williams (6.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 18.6 minutes) PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes) New Jersey receives: SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 26 games) PG Jason Terry (16.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.4 apg in 81 games) Change in team outlook: +8.9 ppg, -2.7 rpg, and -0.9 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Dallas and New Jersey being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and New Jersey had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ------------------------------------------------------- We get rid of a SG trapped in a PG's body, and a guy who is past his prime and is one injury away from being the next Penny Hardaway. In return, we get a great passer who runs the floor well and is a great leader. We also get a good inside player who will thrive with more mintues. He can play both PF and C and is a great energy guy. Gets rebounds, provides SOME shot blocking, just lacks a bit of offense, but with all the offensive machines we have, we wont need it. plus, Kidd would be a great mentor for our young pg, devin harris. Our rebounding would probably increase significantly. Wut do you guys think? With a good leader who can distribute, sound familiar? The only difference between Nash and J-Kidd is Kidd doesnt shoot as well, but he rebounds better. With a team like this, Damp might actually try, even if it isnt his contract year. The lineup would look like this: PG - Kidd SG - 'Quis SF - Finely PF - Nowitzki C - Damp Bench PG - Harris SG - Stefansson SF - Howard PF - A-Train C - Booth I think this lineup would be a serious title contender. matching it up w/ some of the better teams in the west..... Spurs: Kidd = Parker (not really, but Kidd just doesnt do well against this kid) 'Quis = Ginobili Finely > Bowen Dirk < Duncan (can be debatable, dirk's offensive game is a lot better) Damp > Nesterovic Wolves: Kidd = Cassel 'Quis > Hassel/Wally Finely = Spree Dirk < Garnett Damp > Candi Rockets: Kidd > Ward 'Quis < T-Mac Finely > Jackson Dirk > Howard Damp < Yao Kings: Kidd = Bibby 'Quis > Christie Finely < Peja Dirk > Webber Damp > Miller Even agaisnt the best in the east.... Pistons: Kidd > Billups 'Quis < Rip Finely > Prince Dirk > Sheed Damp > Wallace Indiana: Kidd > Tinsley 'Quis > Jackson Finely = Artest Dirk = J'O Damp > Foster Even if the Mavs dont become the favourite, they would still make Top 3. we would have 2 allstars, an ex-allstar, 3 rising stars, one of the better centers and a great role player in A-Train. Hopefully the people who run the mavericks go on JBB and read this, it would be a sick trade.
I bealive that JT will fit in good with the Mavs style of play,he is better then Steve Nash IMO,altough he is really a scorer he isnt a selfish player and will pass the ball,I say keep him he could be a real positive addition to this team. As for going after Kidd I wouldnt try, he is injured a lot and is starting to pass his prime, plus they dont really need a J Kidd type of player in Dallas.
How 'bout going after Baron Davis. New Orleans trades: PG Baron Davis (22.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 7.5 apg in 40.1 minutes) New Orleans receives: PG Jason Terry (16.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.3 minutes) C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes) PG Avery Johnson (4.6 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 2.4 apg in 13.8 minutes) Change in team outlook: +1.8 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and +0.6 apg. Dallas trades: PG Jason Terry (16.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 5.4 apg in 37.3 minutes) C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes) PG Avery Johnson (4.6 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 2.4 apg in 13.8 minutes) Dallas receives: PG Baron Davis (22.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 7.5 apg in 67 games) Change in team outlook: -1.8 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and -0.6 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to New Orleans and Dallas being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans and Dallas had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. yeh the new orleans trade looks nice. But ti think u should give jt a chance i mean this guy has hella potential and skill. he likes to run and ppush the ball. So i think he would do well in the mavs system. i mean you cant gaurd his potential whrn he didnt have a team that was that good. now that he ahs some legeitmate scoreres and etc. on the mavs. I think he will shine and at the leats most get the job done for ya'll period.
Is this really realistic? The Nets do not want a washed up Stack, and the deal with the Hornets doesn't benefit them at all. The Nets see A-Train as a keeper so I do not seem them dealing him unless they can get a big like Wilcox. A trade of Terry, Laettner and some picks can do it, but thats not enough value in return. Its basically just Terry and cap relief for a top 7 Player in the league. The Mavs should take a look at what Terry can do, and if they don't like it and he's not meeting their expectations, then they can try to look for a deal.
Spurs will never try to get Kidd, Parker's developing and they just signed Brent Barry, who's a solid back-up. No need for Kidd there in my eyes.
I agree with the Quickness give JT a chance. He averaged 6 assists, so thats not completely selfish, plus he only had Stephan Jackson to give it to. I'll agree that he's better than Nash Defensively but as for CV Nash was better. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe something like Stack + Terry for Kidd + A-Train.</div> Pass. The thing about all of these offseason acquasitions is not only did we get better IMO we got younger. I think we trade stack for a backup PF, someone like Kurt Thomas or maybe Tim Thomas, even though I've never seen Henderson play, but I know he got MIP, and a 6th Man. I think our point gaurd position is set, we get a scoring and defense from Harris and JT, and Dickau isnt that bad neither.
JT maybe good but I dont like him. He had many oppurtunitys to prove himself but fell short (when in ATL). Devin Harris and JT will probably end up splitting the minutes evenly after allstar break because Harris will be adjusting nicely and he needs minutes to improve. JT is more of a SG so why not have him at SG, Finley at SF, Dirk, Damp and at PG after half the season have Devin Harris?
jtam, comparing 2 teams like that doesnt get you far IMO. Especially when you compared the Mavs to the Pistons. You have to realize, that if the Lakers/Pistons series was won by individual matchups, the Pistons would've been blown out of the water, but the Pistons won by playing team basketball and hard-nosed defense. But back to the topic: I don't think the Mavs need a new pointguard, Jason Terry is a good player who will give you around 15-18 pts and 5-7 assists. Also, with Devin Harris and Marquis Daniels coming off the pine with Jerry Stackhouse starting with JT, this backcourt has amazing talent, most talent that the mavericks have had in their backcourt in a very long time. However, you will miss Steve Nash's leadership, but i think this team has enough veteran leaders to help guide them.
Weed need a PG that can shoot threes. Terry shoots better than Kidd and he?s younger. I think he will fit in that team.
I hope so... It'll be a very hard way to the playoffs and they need a court general for them to get there...
i just dont like terry or stack. i saw a few times in hawk's games where terry could have given a teammate a better shot, but he took a bad shot himself. plus, seriously, i really think he would be better @ SG. plus, IMO, he shoots too much. as for stack, hes really only one injury away from becoming the next penny, if he isnt already. i think we dont need a scoring PG, just cuz we have all these scoring machines already. it would be nice to get an experienced PG who can run the fast break well and finds open teamates and is unselfish. i still think JT hogs the ball a lil too much, but then again, who did he have in ATL that he could pass to? lets just hope these 2 dudes r good enuf.
I don't like Stackhouse because I don't think he can stay healthy for a whole season. Jason Terry, I think with a good team around him can be a good player. With the Atlanta Hawks everyones out for themselves right now cause the team is so horrible.
Terry is not a pure point guard by any means. He is turnover prone and can not distribute the ball like needed at times. He will be a good fit at shooting guard for them if they deside to trade finely do to his contract situation, but as a point in the west he has nothing. Playing against other great guards like cassel, baron davis, tony parker, andrei miller, steve nash, and jason williams every night will wear him down and one thing you need to be good out west out side of a center is a good point guard. That is true in either conference just ask the raptors or the lakers when they lost to the spurs two years ago in the semi finals.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Mavs point guards this year. Terry is a hell of a scorer, and will be a HUGE upgrade on defense. With him running the pick and roll with Dirk, expect a career year. Nelson wants a shoot first guard that will punish teams for backing off him. Long term, if Terry continues to improve, he'll be a 1-2 guy, not a pure point. Devin Harris is another bad ass, this guy is quick, maybe as quick as anyone. Once he learns to play HIS game at the NBA level, he'll take over where Nash left off. And in the meantime, Daniels and Finley will help out with playmaking. So no, the Mavs are in great shape at point guard. We have plenty of options, and defensively, are in much much better shape than last year.
I think Devin Harris will eventually be your PG. This kid was great in college and you all better hope he can take it to the next level, which I think he can.
I could never picture Jason Terry being an NBA Point Guard. He shoots a lot, and it doesn't seem like he distributes the ball enough to be a point guard. But then again he's only what 6'2? and is undersized as a sg, but I don't think anyone wants a shoot first pg.
