Did you predict him to be a boozehound that would run his career into the ground? He certainly wasn't going to save the organization but if he wasn't an alcoholic he would have been an incredible 3rd scoring option next to Paul/Antoine. Nobody saw his alcoholism coming.

We didn't know he was an alcoholic, but it was obvious something wasn't right.
This does put back the Celtics a few years. I dont think theyll get another chance at an Oden like player for a long time.
on one side, thank gawd I was alive too see the 84 and 86 finals and remember enough of them.on the other side... 21 freaking years without a title?!?!20 without a finals appearance?!?!@)&T@)#%T)*^@R%#)^%@*(#T)*^@$TR*@#^)*&@^#_&@^%$^*%R#(@$R(^&@$*_)
This is the new trend with people who haven't watched one Boston Celtic game all year long. They hear Gomes say one dumb comment and go oh the Celtics tanked all year long bla bla bla.

That was why they signed him.</div> It doesn't matter. His game had still slipped significantly, and the crazy weight gain was a sign he wasn't right. Everyone in the league knew he had some type of issue. The only reason the Celts made that move was to save a few million in salary because the owner was trying to sell the team.
Sure we may be cursed but look what happened when the Red Sox won it. It was definitely worth the wait because those were the best playoffs in baseball history that I've seen in my lifetime. Nearly every series went to 7 games and was intense and just great baseball, especially the 3-0 comeback against our rival the Yankees. It couldn't of been any more picture perfect. I am not gonna expect a championship out of this team for a while. Who knows it could 10, 20, 30 years. It will come and when ti does it will be special.I am still pretty heated though Portland? Portland?Seattle? Seattle?
I see seatle getting durant and packaging Rashawd or Ray Allen for some young guys. If it were up to me I would get rid of both of them so the Socics could start over with Durant as there young star, with some good young guys around them and with them brining in a new coach and all it just give them a whole new look. I see Portland winning a title in the next few years if they can get a good chemestry going with there young players. Draft Oden, Trade Zach Randolph for whatever there missing. Get rid of Miles in a trade to for someone who actually gives a damn about how good they could be and there going places.

No. Your simply going through a bad time most franchises go through.</div> But you don't understand how we feel, you're on the outside looking in. I know you can counter by saying "I'm a Bucks fan, I know how it feels." But you don't. This is the most storied franchise ever with winning traditions through the roof, yet we haven't made a Finals appearance in 21 years and we have been shafted in HUGE lotteries twice, that would have changed everything (first in 1997 when we were the worst team, slipped in the lottery and missed out on Duncan.... then last night when we slipped and missed on Oden/Durant). Ever since Len Bias passed, this franchise has been in hell. Sure, we made the Eastern Conference Finals one year in 2002, but that is it. We have had the worst luck, questionable management/coaching, and we have gone through too much. This was the "icing on the cake," this is a travesty.
Bad Luck, Bad Management = Celtics Travesty. We've had one good break in the last 20 years and that was Paul dropping in our laps.Since then, management and coaching has not been able to build a team around or with Paul and make it a consistent winner.

Now the Celtic fans get to live it. The best thing about a sh*tty team is when you come back on top it's all the sweeter. My entire life I was used to the Bulls being a championship contender and then they went in one season after winning the title to one of the worst teams in the NBA.

The Bulls are good again and are contenders again.A 21-year drought of mediocrity is uncomparable.
You poor things, at least you have a tradition and fan base. And regardless of your lottery failures, you have a nice young team.
