Gilbert Arenas Offically a Wizard http://www.nba.com/wizards/news/arenassigns_030808.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that free agent guard Gilbert Arenas is now a member of the Washington Wizards. Per team policy terms of the deal were not disclosed. “Gilbert is an outstanding young point guard and we feel fortunate to add a player of his caliber to our roster,” Grunfeld said. “He was one of the marquis free agents this off season, and we’re pleased to make him a part of a very exciting future here in Washington. Gilbert has proven that he can excel at this level and we are confident that he will fit in very well with Eddie Jordan’s exciting style of basketball.” Arenas was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player last season after averaging 18.3 points and 6.3 assists per game for Golden State. He started all 82 games and joined Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Steve Francis, Jamal Mashburn and Ricky Davis as the only players to average at least 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.</div>
Another article on this: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._wizards_arenas Ofcourse it was expected that the Warriors wouldn't match the offer, because they would have to waive or trade some players to be able to do that.
good move for the wiz, dissapointed though, i loved the backcourt tandem of gilbert and j rich where does this leave larry? off the bench i guess
I guess hughes will come off the bench now. Maybe 6th man of the year. I really hope so hes better as a combo guard then a point guard.
He is getting a 6 year, $64 million dollar contract by the Wizards. He will be making $8.5 million this year amking him the highest paid Wizard. I think Arenas is getting way too much money. Way to much.

damn warriors. they had a chance to keep this guy by simply moving fortson, sura, or mills and creating cap space for arenas. ridiculous! arenas is going to be great with the wizards. if kwame can finally prove why he was a number 1 pick, the wizards will have 2 cornerstone players to build around.

Yes, Hughes is a better shooting guard then point so he will start. They will probably have Stack at the 3. Larry Hughes is a real talented player. Him and Gilbert could be real good together, and they could be one of the top backcourt combos in the league.
