The Springfield Armor squandered a career-high performance by Vernon Goodridge and an 18-point lead, losing 97-94 to the Dakota Wizards Sunday night before 2,231 at the MassMutual Center.

The Armor (5-14) led by 16 at halftime but was outscored by 18 in the third quarter.

“It’s hard to work that hard for two quarters and give it all back in one quarter,” a disheartened Armor coach Dee Brown said. “It’s too bad they play two halves.”

The Wizards (6-14) made a living at the free throw line, hitting 38 of 51 attempts. They made 17 of 19 in the third quarter alone. The Armor only went to the line 17 times, making 11.

“That’s how they stayed in the game in the first half was free throws,” Brown said. “They went to the free throw line 20 times in the first half and like 21 times I think in the third quarter. You can’t win games like that, it’s impossible.”
