QUOTE

Odd Man Out?
Sep 21 - I had a chance to catch up with Darrell Armstrong over the phone recently and it sounds like if the Pacers and Armstrong have a say in anything, the 39-year-old point guard won't be back with the blue and gold this season.

Armstrong didn't divulge much other than he respects the Pacers on how they've handled the situation and that he knew he'd probably be the odd man out when they signed Travis Diener and Andre Owens over the summer.

Armstrong didn't say what teams he would like to play for, but Golden State and Dallas are believed to be his top choices. He'd be reunited with Don Nelson, who coached him in Dallas, along with former Pacers teammates Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington in the Bay Area. Armstrong spent two seasons with the Mavericks. -- Indianapolis Star

The Nets need him a hell of a lot more than they need Allan Houston.

agreed. he has an advantage over Houston in that he's a proven vet, he showed he still belongs in the NBA after last season. The Nets could use him more than Allan Houston, too.

He still can play, but I'd expect he'd be in demand as an assistant coach as well if he decides to hang it up. He could be a second coming of Avery Johnson.
