Regardless of what happens the Yankees need to do whatever is necessary to cut ties with him. That includes fighting him tooth and nail over settling the remainder of his contract. The main clearly violated baseball rules and his contract with his continued PED usage. These injuries are most likely a direct result of the breakdown his body his doing because of all the junk he put in his body.

But what can they do? The MLBPA is so strong, they can't cut him or stop paying him... they won't likely be able to restructure the contract... I just don't know what they can possibly do to fight him. I agree that he clearly violated MLB's (and the Yankees) rules, but what can they do?

^^^Hammer, I think very soon ARod will realize what he's up against and will simply find a doctor, who along with the Yanx's doctors, will say he is physically unable to perform...ARod still gets his money, the Yanx will recoup that money via the insurance policy, and ARod's salary will come off the books and will not count towards the lux tax ceiling...this will free up an extra $25 Mil for the Yanx to reload.
...again, this is how I personally see things unfolding and is just my opinion.

Worst case the Yankees have to bite the bullet and perform an NHL like buyout. They signed him to the ill advised deal so it's their mess.

The worst case for the Yankees would be releasing him and paying him to sit home for four years.

I read somewhere (don't quote me) that if he gets suspended while he's in rehab then the Yankees are off the hook. Off course the'll be appeals if that happens.

with 150 coming, they must really have something on him, so I kinda doubt there would be an appeal...

Word is there is so much evidence that a-rod was shown in his mlb sitdown friday his head was spinning and he spent an extra hour or 2 with union lawyers to startegize. A-rod is looking for plea deal at this point and best case for him sounds like 150 game suspension which he will not be paid for which will in all likelihood end his career and he will come back at that point find a doctor to say he is disabled and collect whatever money is left from his insurance. If not he could be facing a pete rose type penalty which if sustained would cost him all of his remaining money

pete rose type penalty would be rough... but this might be a penalty which would be a lesson to all of baseball... either way, I think we need to be done with A-Rod as soon as possible...

I can't help but think that guys like Bonds & Clemens have something to do with MLBs thinking. Remember Clemens was aquitted & Bonds originally had 19 counts against him & ended up only being charged with one. So I think A-Rod will definitely be used as an example.

...yup, and let's not forget that this isn't just ARod...if they have incriminating evidence against ARod, they also have, Braun and all the others nailed...and I hope they make an example out of all of them...Braun could be screwed too...and rightfully so.

ok, according to this article, the best case scenario for A-Rod is the 150 game ban... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/07/14/report-a-rod-considering-plea-deal-with-mlb/ which is similar to the article originally posted, but it also goes on to say

"Rodriguez has four years and nearly $100 million remaining on his contract after this season. If he is suspended for the 150-games, he would not be paid during that time period but if after that he is deemed physically unable to perform by team doctors, the remaining amount left on his contract at that time would have to be paid by the Yankees."

Isn't that the opposite of what was said by other posters? that if he was declared medically unfit, the Yankees were off the hook and the insurance paid? I'm confused now

No Hammer I heard the same way you did. That's why I'm hoping he gets suspended. But I believe the suspension has to come while he's in rehab.

I know I read somewhere recently where A-Rod would probably get back on the field (Yankees) & then have a doctor deem him unfit BEFORE a possible suspension just so he can collect his full salary. Sounds like something this greedy piece of shit would do.

Whats back firing though is that so far he's sucked in his rehab stint (2-18) & hopefully he never gets called back up.

One thing that is not mentioned ever is that ARod is undoubtedly the most disgusting and despised player ever to wear a Yankee uniform. And at every turn when he would have the opportunity to try to change peoples opinions, he always fell short. I for one, hope that whatever is the most proficient way the organization can find to rid ourselves of this pile of puss, it wont can't come soon enough for me. He has been a cancer.
