Not to mention Brad Stevens. I was impressed by a lot of the lineups Donovan used to get by the Spurs and also nearly beat the dubs. However, they still run the stupid pin-down for KD 80 times a game - the same thing brooks always did. Also, for most of the year that team looked identical to the brooks okc teams. Stevens would be a huge upgrade at coach in addition to the allstar lineup.

Hoopshype says the Celtcs will have the following players under contract next year

    http://hoopshype.com/salaries/boston_celtics/

    Isaiah Thomas - $6,587,131
    Avery Bradley - $8,269,663
    Marcus Smart - $3,578,880
    Kelly Olynyk - $3,094,013
    Terry Rozier - $1,906,440
    James Young - $1,825,200
    Jordan Mickey - $1,223,653
    RJ Hunter - $1,200,240

Then they've got the #3, #16, and #23 picks. I don't think those are even included in their max cap calculation.

Supposedly they have 53ish million in cap space (not sure if that includes the picks or not). Durant and Horford would account for 50 of that. Butler is slated to make $17,552,209 next season.

Let's say they deduct 3 million from the 17.5 that Butler is getting. That leaves 14.5 million. That 14.5 million has to come out of the players listed above. Let's say Smart drops another $3.5 from that 14.5 total. Now you need 11 million.

The trade has to be Smart, Bradley and the #3. That would equal roughly what they'd need for Butler.

    Is this a championship team?

    Isaiah Thomas
    Jimmy Butler
    Kevin Durant
    Kelly Olynyk
    Al Horford

    And a bench of
    Terry Rozier
    James Young
    Jordan Mickey
    RJ Hunter

You forgot Amir Johnson at 12M, who becomes guaranteed on july 3rd. Smart+Johnson+#3 should work.

That was what was proposed in the article. I assumed the author knew what he was talking about and there was some way to make this fantasy work, but that's not always a good assumption.

Can't the Suns hang on to a point guard for TWO SECONDS?

I saw Butler last night on that Jimmie Kimmel show. Butler is a terrible shooter from full court. Do we really want a player like that?

The Knicks have no pieces to trade. We better yet to hop in and snatch Bledsoe, hed be great off the bench behind Dame and CJ as a 3rd ball handler and perimeter defender.

Vonleh and CLE's future 1st would be better than anything New York would offer.

Bledsoe makes like 15 a year and has bad knees, his value isn't very high. I imagine PHX just wants him off the books.

That's a guy you'd have to take a chance on if youre Portland. We need a 3rd scorer, a 3rd ball handler, and a guard defender. He's all of those.

Even if Bledsoe is only 75% of what he used to be, he'd still be great and a true 6th Man of the Year candidate.

Bledsoe is not ready mentally to come off the bench. He still sees himself as a starter and IMO would not be happy with a bench role. Too bad because he would be perfect.

Damn dude, sounds like Lamar Odom tripping again. Dude is going to end up dead if he doesn't get off that rock.

If he can't handle being a 6moty in a great culture while playing only a few minutes less especially when he would because he's coming off an injury... Then that's his problem.

Of course it's his problem. But it's not like he is the only 26 year old in the NBA who is reluctant to come off the bench....after being a starter. A lot of them have problems with it. They think it effects their next contract. And they are probably right.

Didn't the Clippers let Bledsoe go largely because he wasn't content being buried behind all their ball handlers?

He's signed for another 3 years and getting 30 minutes a game should be enough to keep him satisfied. He could still easily put up 16/17 ppg.

    Lillard (36) / Bledsoe (12)
    McCollum (30) / Bledsoe (18)
    Crabbe (29) / Aminu (14) / McCollum (5)
    Aminu...

Imagine a Lillard/Bledsoe/CJ/Harkless/Aminu smallball lineup. Could play CJ at SF when other teams go small or when there's a SF like Batum that won't take advantage of the mismatch. Lillard, Bledsoe and McCollum would be sooo deadly playing together with Moe and Chief filling the lanes. Plus, we'd be able to have two of those 3 on the court at all times, taking the pressure off everyone.

If he's available, you have to go after him. It's a low risk / high reward proposition.
