How did such a great show only last three seasons? I finally got around to watching it after getting all of the season's for Christmas, and it's right up there with the Wire for my favorite shows.
I'm not sure how I missed this thread. AD currently stands as my favorite show (I have yet to watch The Wire, though and everyone tells me how amazing it was). My favorite part about the show is, regardless of how many times I've seen any given episode, I will--without fail-- find something new that cracks me up. Fox really screwed the pooch in regards to that show. Constantly changing time slots made it nearly impossible to watch. I also firmly believe that is a tough show to start watching in the middle of a season. It makes so many references to past stories/episodes that a viewer starting to watch at say, Episode 11 of Season 1, many jokes would be lost on them. I know this from experience, as I remember catching random episodes when it was on the air, but I didn't fully appreciate the show until I got all of the seasons on DVD.
Multiple times over. I watch the show from beginning to end about once a year (obviously not in one sitting).
It's one of those shows like Modern Family and 30 Rock where you are not told when to laugh, so many simpletons don't laugh and it didn't get the ratings it deserved.
dude Santee I could have told you this... AD The funniest Sitcom I have EVER seen.. I LOVE this show lol. Welcome to the club though! "BUT WHERE DID THE LIGHTER FLUID COME FROM?!!?"
Well Said... it amazes me how watching the same episodes over and over is still amazingly funny! Who else could get away with making stuff up like the "Bob Loblaw Law Blog".. I just dont know how they write that stuff lol. Oh and Buster becoming a Monster... and man I could go on for DAYS about this show lol.
The entire series is available on Hulu. I watched it all from start to finish last year with my daughters. Totally cracked them up and they are always quoting lines from the show (their "Hey Brother" Buster imitation drives their brother nuts). I was a fan during the first season and then they moved it to a different time slot where I had a conflict. So, I missed out. Thank god for Hulu. They also play episodes late at night on the Idenpendent Film Channel (550 on DirecTV). Last night, we were all doing the chicken dance (has anyone in this family ever actually seen a chicken). One of my favorite lines of all time was the life guard shouting at Buster, "LOOSE SEAL!! WATCHOUT FOR LOOSE SEAL!!". That line and Buster's response still cracks me up. BNM
Bummer. They used to have every episode. Hopefully, they will bring them back. I'm itching to watch the whole series again from start to finish. BNM
Wrong. And this is coming from a huge fan of Larry David. Curb is second to AD for funniest show for me.
Disagree. Curb is too self involved for me. Larry David is a funny guy, but I can only take so much of him. After a while his "character's" whining and self-defeating behavior starts to grate on me like his George Can't Stand Ya alter ego. He's a great "character", but his schtick gets a little old when EVERY episode is about him. I know it's his show, but even Seinfield had a large ensemble cast, as did Arrested Development. Besides, I can't watch Curb with my kids. They are old enough now for the PG-13 humor of Arrested Development, but not the R-rated humor of Curb Your Enthusiam. BNM
lol Busters lines are so funny. My wife doesnt like stuff with swearing but she laughs everytime when Buster talking about his Bike he is making (without breaks lol) and says "Besides... this is going to be the most BITCHINGLY fast bike, in all of Orange County" lol. lmao Buster "Hey Campers." *Campers run Screaming* Buster "I'M A MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!"
I understand that AD was a very expensive show to make. That made it harder to carry it through the times when it got such lousy ratings. It is too bad... I love the show. Of course. I'm white. What do you expect? I love CYE, also, and I am a HUGE fan of uncomfortable humor (like the BBC Office) ... but AD is prob my favorite. Ed O.
