Orlando Magic swingman Arron Afflalo seemed to indicate Saturday on Twitter that he’s aware of the rumor that the Magic and the Los Angeles Clippers have discussed a potential trade that would involve him.

Although nothing appears imminent, the Clippers would supposedly send 23-year-old point guard Eric Bledsoe and 33-year-old swingman Caron Butler to the Magic for the 27-year-old Afflalo.

That rumor appears to have prompted Afflalo to go onto Twitter and send out the two tweets below, which have since been deleted.

3 month training camp begins today .... let next season speak ....

until then ... observing and listening

That trade, if it ever comes to fruition, would give the Magic a talented young point guard, Bledsoe, who would eventually take over the position from Jameer Nelson.

It also would clear some salary from the Magic’s books. Butler is owed $8 million for 2013-14, but that’s the final year on his contract.

Afflalo, meanwhile, is due $7.5 million in 2013-14, another $7.5 million in 2014-15 and has a player option for about $7.9 million for 2015-16, according to the website ShamSports. (Another website says Afflalo is due $7.5 million in 2015-16 without a player option.)

The Clippers apparently believe Afflalo would give them a long-term upgrade on the wing.

Meanwhile, the deal would appear to be a no-brainer for the Magic. Team officials like Afflalo's game and like the intensity and professionalism that he brings to their locker room. But the Magic would have to jump at the opportunity to add a high-upside talent at point guard, because point guard is a premium position. The Magic also would have to welcome the chance to clear out some long-term salary.
