Arshavin And €20m For Messi - Zenit <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Russian news agency, Ria Novosti, reported the outlandish idea as the Blaugrana are said to have made an approach for the Russian international. While Zenit recognise that Arshavin may well be leaving given the renewed interest in his services after some impressive display at Euro 2008, they are certain he will not leave on the cheap. An idea about Messi arose because of the constant speculation in the media about the link with Barça and so the club told Ria Novosti that they were ready to counter the offer. Zenit will now propose to Barcelona that Messi joins them in exchange for Arshavin and €20m, a move designed to show that they will be no pushovers in negotiations. Several other clubs are also interested in the 27-year-old and speculation is rife that the Blaugrana are being used so publicly to pull other clubs into the bidding. Chelsea are allegedly one other major side that could make a move, with Roman Abramovich said to be ready to intervene personally to try and persuade the player to move to Stamford Bridge. Barça hope to wrap up all their summer transfer dealings by the end of the end of this week before the referendum on the club's board takes place on Sunday.</div>
^ I hope that they're joking. Messi is worth at least 65m if not more. If no team in the EPL, and Il Calcio can come close to getting him, then no way will Zenit get him without breaking all football records for the transfer fee.

He's worth as much as Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka. -Petey
The proposed price and exchange for Arshavin isn't to put anyone higher then another, but to show that Russian clubs are not going to allow their best players go for simply 15 to 30 million Euros. I agree with what they are doing because if shit big clubs like Barcelona keep buying out players from the Russian Premier League, then the hopes for the league to continue improving at such a high pace will come to a close.
I don't think there's anymore news on Arshavin at the moment. All I know is that Wenger said he wouldn't buy him because he's not strong enough for the EPL. He's 100% right. Look at him when he played Spain.

How many players do I have to name that aren't "strong enough" and play well in the league?
Haha! That was an insult to say the least. It's not that sort of strong. He just isn't of the right mentality to play in England.

Listen, I will never win this. I know exactly what what you mean. If you love a player enough, it's impossible to sway anyone's thoughts.
Dutch played their worst game for the last few years as far as I remember. Nothing like their previous matches where they killed their opponents. And thats not because Russia was good but because the Dutch basically just forgot to play for those 90 minutes and sucked the whole time.
they really lost it i don't know why it just happened i had them to win from the start (if u don't belive me look on the pick em thread)

It was ballsy of Zenit to do that. They have adopted my Football Manager 2008 method. Chelsea kept offering around £18mil for K. Toure and i told them i wanted £100m. That shut them up.
