The Michio Kaku thread had a short Art Bell segue which I think deserved its own thread.

I loved that old show, but as we noted, the moron George Noory ruined it, made it un-listenable. Michio was my favorite Art Bell guest and Dr Doom Ed Dames was the worst.

Recently I joined the Coast to Coast website - Streamlink - just so i could download old Art Bell shows. They had about 25 (at 4 hrs each). I listen to that now sometimes late at night instead of the moron.

The people who run the show would be better off running repeats of old C2C shows.

How much is the membership? might be worth it..

Wow only 25? That sucks..... They should make all the old shows available.... or sell volumes. I would buy a set of "best of Art Bell" cds. I miss that show so much. George puts me to sleep and he's a terrible interviewer. He asks dumb questions that have nothing to do with the subject at hand, and he doesn't press someone when they fail to answer an important question. Art wouldn't let someone off the hook. He'd ask the questions that were on my mind and he wouldn't let the guest off the hook until they answered sufficiently. You can actually listen to quite a few of his shows on youtube. They're broken down into parts but it's without commercial breaks so I don't mind.

One of my favorite guests was Graham Hancock.

That show was sweet. Used to listen to it when I worked the late night shift back in the day.

Wouldn't the sound of the radio distract the guys who were paying you for sex?

LOL! I do the same thing but I downloaded the old episodes via bit torrent.

My second favorite guest on the Art Bell was Zahi Hawass, head of Egyptian antiquities. I hated Major Head Games/ Ed Dames. Did you ever hear Mel's Hole? I don't think it was real but it was some great story telling.

I really enjoyed Art Bell and listen to him when he hosts on weekends every couple of months but I did get a little creeped out when he married that 18yr old Philippines girl 3 months after his wife died. It was heartbreaking when he was crying and talking about how his wife died then he immediately married someone old enough to be his granddaughter.... Just weird.

That was creepy, but not as creepy as his justification for doing it.

I forgot, what was his justification?

Dude had a broken heart and was trying to fill the hole. Ramona was his whole life. When she died I actually felt like I had lost a family member.

I never liked Zahi. Dude was a spin man for the Egyptian government and his whole job was to protect their history. I remember he wouldn't let archaeologists dig under the Sphinx when they discovered a room under it because he was afraid of what they might find.

I remember him saying that sometimes people need someone so bad, that they HAVE to replace them once they leave. Like how older people sometimes marry soon after their spouse dies, because they're so used to/dependent on another person being there/cooking/cleaning/companionship etc.

Do you guys remember Al Belick and the Philadelphia Experiment?

Didn't believe a bit of it but he was a great storyteller.

But there wasn't and isn't a room under it. Wasn't that something Edgar Cayce said?

I thought they said that they found it using some form of radar resonance.... but who knows... but might have been Ed Dames. It's been so long I can't remember.

BTW I actually listened to the Mels Hole saga just last week. I think there might have been a hole in Washington, but anything after that was a fabricated lie by Mel for attention. I think he might have had a really deep hole in his possession that he threw things down... but that's where the truth ends.

LOL! I remember reading that there were a lot of people out looking for the hole. There used to be websites about it.

I remember seeing websites where the US goverment blocked out satellite maps of the area where the hole was supposed to be. Somewhere in central WA, wasn't it?

Yeah, they were satellite photos on the terraserver... which was similar to Google maps, only less up-to-date I think. I'm not even sure if that's still around. It's funny though, I looked up the exact same area on Google and there's no white squares over any part of the map, and I can't see anything that looks even remotely developed out in that area outside Ellensburg.

Remember the "sounds of hell"? Turned out it was just a mall in like the Ukraine or something.

Btw, have any of you heard the Art Bell spoofs by Phil Hendrie?

holy shit, I seriously pissed myself laughing so hard.

Man, I don't know what show you guys were listening to but anytime I tuned in he had some crackpot going on about UFOs, zero point energy generation or time travel devices. I remember there was some ongoing story arc where he kept getting letters from a supposed time traveler. The show to me was "The Weekly World News" in radio form. The only reason to listen was for it's kitsch/cheese factor.
