With the trade of Artest and Peja going down today, which team benefits more from this trade?(pending that it only involves Artest and Peja)

Wow, Pacers did get raped, lmao! Horrible trade for this team. Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh will remember this trade. I would rather get Maggette.
Peja hasn't been consistent throughout his career and has been injured on and off lately. Therefore, the Pacers are the losers in this deal.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">I think Maggette, Lewis, Francis, and even Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy would have been better than Peja.</div> How would Francis or Troy Murphy have been better than Peja? Troy Murphy doesn't do anything better than Peja other than rebound, and the Pacers already have great rebounders.

Obviously the Kings got the better of this deal. Peja is a half season rental for the Pacers. I'm not sure why the Pacers waited this long to pull the trigger, since this rumor has been circulating since last year. Also with all the trade rumors out there, I thought the Warriors had the best offer on the table, if in fact Pietrus was part of their package. I guess the Pacers are hoping to pull off a sign and trade with Peja if/when he decides to opt out. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see the Kings turnaround and trade Artest again and package him with one of the players they got for Webber. With Artest the Kings are a playoff lock.
I honestly don't understand why Indiana were chasing after Peja. He's been a below average starter all season, highly inconsistent, and he has a history of disappearing in big games. So, it's not like he'll really help them in the playoffs, and plus he'll be a free agent after the season. Maybe Indiana is hoping he'll be rejuvinated in a different environment, like Vince Carter last year. I kind of doubt it will happen. As for Sacramento, why the hell did the Maloofs wait so long on making this deal? They could have been above .500 if they got the deal done quickly in December. I still think they'll make the playoffs.
I think the Pacers really cleand up in this deal. The Kings got a player who, when his head is right, can be a major force on both ends of the floor, a differnce maker, and a guy who can lead them out of the doldrums and into playoff contention. The Pacers, on the other hand, first of all got something for nothing. They didn't care what happened to Artest, they just wanted to be rid of him. To them, if they got a penci, some chewing gum, and a ticket stub, the trade was a win. To get a former All Star, however, who is still young enough to be an impact player, is a big deal. Despite Peja's injury concerns, he's an upgrade over what the Pacers have had at the 3 since Artest was suspended. And remember back when the Kings had Peja and Weber working a two man game at the high post in Sacto? Peja could definitely develop that type of chemistry with Jermaine O'Neal. I think that this trade is solid for both teams, assuming that Artest doesn't blow up again (the likelihood is just as good in Sacramento as anywhere), but the Pacers just went from being a team that will make the playoffs but go nowhere to a team that can be a top 4 seed in the East and, with two top players, be a player in the playoffs.

The deal is off now? How? Artest doesn't have any veto powers in his contract. The Lakers get a mulligan let's see if Mitch can get a deal done.
