<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ron Artest of the Pacers will have surgery Thursday for a ligament tear in his left thumb and will be out indefinitely, the team announced.

Artest first hurt the thumb on his non-shooting hand during a game against the Nets on Jan. 17, when it was diagnosed as a sprain. He aggravated the injury when he fell in the third quarter of Tuesday night's loss to the Hornets.

Not a good thing, that's for sure. He needs both his hands for defense, plus he's a key player. This'll really hurt the Pacers, most of them rely on him and Jermaine O'Neal on the defensive end.

I know it's serious, but I hope it isn't too much of a hassle once he's back. Hopefully he'll recover and continue to play well like he did when he came back from his last injury. He works so hard that he seems to be becoming injury prone.

Not much to say, other than YAY! [IMG]

All right, fine, it is dissapointing when an all star goes down with an injury. However, I hope he is sidelined until Detroit climbs the standings and surpasses the Pacers. Too bad that they are still a good team without him and will still be hard to beat.

Well, if you face the Pistons at SF you will be seeing Rasheed Wallace. Admit that nobody in the East has the size to go against our front court, not to mention we suddenly have our needed scorer.

We'll be seeing you guys in the playoffs. Oh, and I'm riding high for today, if we suddenly get blown out, then I will go under the radar with all the Piston praise. [IMG]

As for Artest, he is a very important part of the Pacers. Other players may step in and take his role but it will not be the same. He plays a very important part on the defense, that stats don't always tell, in the same manner as Ben Wallace.

Wow, this is a HUGE setback for the Pacers, he does more than what's in the stats, and his stats are even very impressive.

Sad to hear something happen like that to a guy like Artest. By the way, what the hell does "indefinetley" mean, why don't they just give us a time? The Pacers will miss his presence on defense, but I think Al Harrington will step up in his place well. This guy has the potential to be a good scorer, and I think he'll fit in nicely.

I dont think the absence of ron will hurt the team majorly ..Yes he is our first dfensive option but ..Guys like harrington..foster..and bender all are great athletes and also play hard nosed defense..I think it will be a god challenge for AL...It will let us see what he is capable off being relied on as second scorer..Will he fall or will he accept the challenge and go at it..Al is a worker and i feel he will step up his game and will go at it..Lets just hope artest returns soon and that the team doesnt miss him too much!
