<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">INDIANAPOLIS -- Ron Artest arrived at the Indiana Pacers' rookie-free agent camp Monday pledging to be a smarter player focused on helping his team win an NBA title.

The star forward spoke to the local media for the first time since a Nov. 19 fight in Detroit resulted in a nearly season-long suspension. That night, Artest went into the stands at The Palace and attacked a Pistons fan after he was hit with a cup of beer.

Artest said he wants to cut down on technical fouls and remain in control to help his team. He called his tendency to draw technicals "playing against your team.

"As you get older, you get a bit more wise," he said. "Probably next year, you'll see an older guy, an older player. Like everybody else, as they get older, they mature."

    Artest knows he's being watched.

"I'm a ghetto-type guy," he said. "I'll be ghetto for the rest of my life. But at the same time, there's a lot of kids who look up to me. For that, I'll change."</div>

Sounds good he can be a real good player if he focuses on just playing basketball

This is great and its about time ron. But we'll see if this is true next season, because its pretty hard to believe hes not going to get technicals

I dont think artest will get into anymore of these stupid fights or get as many technicals.. I read the article on artest in slam and he seems like a changed player.

I hope that Ron Artest will really change. He can be a very large addition to the Pacer's strategy. Indiana never bounced back after his suspension.

Ron Artest is a beast.. And he's the Pacers' best player.. I do value him more than J O'Neal.. He may be a bit crazy but he seems like a good dude.. Just a bit misunderstood and a bit psycho..

Ron Artest is crazy. He's completely insane. If he can come back and act like a human being, that's great. More power to him. Until that day, he'll be crazy in my book and a lot of other peoples', too.

Ron Artest is the best SF in my opinion, if he plays 82 games for the Pacers, I wouldnt be suprised if they finished with the best record.

Their defense was already great without Artest, with Artest, their D is elite, and as good or better than the Spurs and Pistons.
