By Larry Krueger, SF Examiner <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> THE HONEYMOON HAS ENDED for the Mike Montgomery era of Warriors basketball. Entering Friday's game against Seattle Supersonics, the Golden State has lost 12 of its last 13 games. They began the season by losing their first six games, but one could argue that Monty was inevitably going to suffer some early losses while making the transition to the NBA. The Warriors also went 0-9 while Jason Richardson was out with a sprained ankle, proving that they can't win without their complete cast. On Wednesday night they looked incredibly flat, and they lost to New Jersey 113-99, the same Nets team that had been 0-9 on the road against Western conference teams. </div> http://www.sfexaminer.com/article/index.cf...12805sp_krueger How the heck do we get Jason Kidd??? This article tells us obvious things we already know as Warrior fans and is kind of an imcomplete article. But an slightly okay read if you're definitely not sold on Dunleavy as a complement to Jrich and Murphy. The queston is who in their right mind would want Dunleavy?
Larry Kreuger is insane. Dealing Dunleavy isn't going to get us anything. His value is already close to nothing. We couldn't even get Curry when his value was at nothing. Putting Dunleavy in a deal to New Jersey will not entice them for one mili-second to pull the deal. What trade bait do we have? Well....there's speedy, cliffy, DDavis, Pietrus, High first round pick, Biedrins and maybe Murphy. I know Murphy just signed a huge extension but maybe with that trade exception they could take him. After the torching Scalabrine gave Murphy who knows they would even want him. Unless we throw in the first round pick I don't see us having a chance and I don't think Mullin will do that. We will get a top 4 pick and there's some talent in there. Kidd is 32, has a bad knee and signed a 120 million dollar extension. That's risky. If Dunleavy is traded I will be very suprised because all the hype is gone. The beginning of this year GM's were saying they were suprised how Dunleavy is looking now. They must have thought he was a gargantuan piece of sh*t. The Dunleavy love-fest is over.
Way back when we had Jamison,Damp,Arenas, adding a then younger, healthier Kidd would have been super. Now,it makes no sense unless he was to come on a Gaary Payton type deal, play cheap and cost us no picks or important players. I never saw Dunleavy as a legit third pick in the draft, only as a middle # 1,a taller Casey Jacobson maybe, A guy with decent range and passing skills. Just because he is 6-9 doesn't make him a power guy in the pros, though the gimmick look using him at point does give us a matchup sometimes. Had the Warriors got him as pick #20,we'd be saying he's about as expected. Not his fault someone fell for "the next Larry Bird" type of absurdity-that said,he may be one guy we could trade and get fair value for
I don't think Dunleavy's value is as low as you guys are saying. Granted, he's certainly not worth a star player, but he could be the type of person who teams might look for. He's 6'9" with the handles of a guard who can pass and finish well in transition. With the re-emergence of the fast break, a player with Dunleavy's skill set and widely believed potential could be quite a bargaining token.
^Around here is value is low, but he is a good set of skills and the other GM's might like that he can pass and shoot well (yeah right!) and he can benifet from a running offense. He can be dealed, but unless it is for someone like Paul Pierce, he's nto going anywhere.
