<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Garden boos don't hurt Tim Thomas. He's been through too much during a summer of family tragedy. Within a span of three days in August, his sister, Amanda, died of a stroke, and his cousin perished in a motorcycle accident. "Put this together, I had to go to two funerals within a weekend," Thomas told The Post before last night's 114-91 loss in Toronto. "I'm getting prepared for the season, running hills, and to have that happen within three days of each other, it was the worst blow ever for me." A still-shaken Thomas is off to his worst start, shooting 31 percent, with every clanked shot greeted by boos at the Garden. Thomas said he's had trouble focusing on the court, but his brain is starting to clear, though he had another quiet four-point night in the 23-point loss. </div> According to the NY Post Tim's horrible start in the season is due to some deaths in the family. I seriously think that there is more behind this story than what he said. I remember that he had this monster game in preseason vs. the Jazz. And now that the season starts he had monster slumps in just about every single game NYK has played. I think he should get out of here. Obviously he's not doing well. He might just need a change in scenery. No team will take him though. I hope I'm not sounding harsh or anything because I am aware of someone's death distracting focus but, untill he thinks he can regain focus maybe it's best for him and the rest of the team that he takes time off. He really has been detrimental to the club thus far and with him continuing performance like this will hurt us. Also I think he can be a gonner soon because of the boo's at the Garden. When you don't have you're own homecourt supporting you that's a sign you have got to go. What do you guys feel about it? Link
I agree he should take some time of until he is ready and willing to produce for the team. Hes taking minutes away from other players on the team who could do better than him right now...
Of course I feel sorry for him, but this is no excuse to perform this poorly. If he feels that this is affecting the way he plays the game (which is poor anyway) then he should volunteer to play less minutes. Seriously, he's been damaging the Knicks' chances of winning since the very second he walked into the Garden, why make it even worse on us? He obviously is aware that right now he's doing more bad for the team then good, why is he still playing so much? Tim, learn your lesson and let Ariza or Penny start, stop hurting your team. It's understandable that he wants to snap out of his slump, but if he tries to do so by lobbing up stupid shots, then he is not only making his slump worse and thicker, but tearing apart team chemistry and disrupting the already shaky flow of the game. Take a seat, Tim! (btw here's the story from the Daily News : http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketba...0p-219388c.html )
