As the NBA's trade deadline approaches, few players are drawing more interest than Golden State's Clifford Robinson.

League sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that "more than five teams" are considering bids for Robinson and that the 38-year-old is "almost certain" to be moved by the Warriors before the Feb. 24 deadline.

Robinson, at this stage of his career, is a defensive specialist who can guard big men of various sizes and still occupy defenses occasionally with his shooting range. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett once described Robinson as "hands-down the best defensive player in the league."

For the Warriors, the idea that Cliff,Cheaney and Davis add up to a big chunk of expiring contracts-and that was the only upside to dealing Jamison and Dampier, means the Warriors feel no need to take a pisspoor deal to move any of those three-but the same thing makes them attractive to teams eager to stick us with the guys they have who have a star contract but have gone downhill. If there is a deal that is sweet enough, great, but I am not hearing any offers that mean much. No sense in clogging the roster with overpaid mediocre players we'd be unable to get rid of. The NBA cap makes "sensible" swaps so complex that you almost figure a players skills is a secondary issue

But you know they'll do it (god forbid, knock on wood). Let's say Malik Rose for Clifford Robinson.

Mullin: "We think Malik Rose is a hard worker that's going to contribute to this team and he's got a couple of rings."

I mean 'cmon the dude is 6'7 power forward and he's averaging good numbers as a backup. I can see this as Foyle part II and Fisher Part II all rolled into one if he's nuts enough to take the trade offer if it was proposed.

Perfect example of an undersized player that works hard on both ends, but has ZERO demand because of the contract size + age.
