He lacks the style of someone who grew up on the playgrounds and school courts of the United States and seems far removed from the hip-hop culture of the NBA. It's impossible to pin a label on the Warriors' Mickael Pietrus, partly because his game is too raw to define and partly because he took the road less traveled to the NBA. Technically, he's an off-guard/small forward. More often, however, he's a man in the middle, both on and off the court. "He's a 'tweener in more ways then one," teammate Adonal Foyle said. Pietrus may be the Warriors' most intriguing player because his potential seems limitless. He's an energetic defender who can limit the league's premier guards. Bring the whole "Be Like Mike" advertisements back into the old noggin', here. I hope someday he does become more like Mike, but I also hope he realizes his own limitations as well to get better.
The thing about these raw athletes is if they have the motivation to work on their skills, once they learn the game, they become star players because they can do so many things average players can't do that you can't take them out of the game. I think Pietrus seems pretty motivated, I can't wait for him to just break out so we can get more athletic and start running. If we had a good fastbreak point guard like Nash or Jkidd to put it all together, I'd think we'd be really good. That's what I was hoping Mullin was going to pull in the offseason.... but no luck. So much for the high hopes that since Mully was friends with Nash's agent, Bill Duffy, that he'd talk him into convincing Nash to return to the bay area as a pro. Nash is one of my favorite point guards.
If that happened and we never signed Fisher, Biedrins would be great. Wahh. Mullin screwed us up bigtime
Biedrens does have those "Jermaine O'neil/Kmart" comparrisons. I'll have to see it to believe it though. I think it was Yahoo draft articles that said he was like Chris Bosh, Nbadraft.net that said he was Jermaine O'neil, and I think it was RealGM that said he played more like Kmart. Those are great comparrisons considering he's the youngest player in the nba and an international player that's finally not compared to the usual Dirk/Pau/Yao or Peja. The funny thing is given his supposedly fiery mean streak, he'll probably be a Pau Gasol 7 footer, only with defense and worse free throwing.
