Pippen pact could hamper Bulls' free-agent effort <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scottie Pippen confirmed Thursday his playing days are done, but that wasn't the news of the day. Pippen, 38, told the Chicago Sun-Times on March 16 he didn't think he could play anymore after hinting at retirement all season. The only question was what will happen with the $5 million owed Pippen for next season, and the answer likely will affect the Bulls' pursuit of free agents this summer. Pippen was asked Thursday if he'll consider negotiating a buyout. ''A what?'' Pippen asked with a grin. ''I don't know the meaning of that word. ''I won't comment on that. I'm going to sit down and talk with [operations chief John] Paxson in the next day or so, and we'll make a decision as to what we're going to do.''</div>

"All those years when Scottie said he was underpaid, we said he signed a contract. If this time, we made a bad deal then you have to live with that [and pay him off]," Reinsdorf said. ? Pippen said he didn't know which game would be his last, but was hoping not to be with the team for the final game in Indianapolis. ?</div>
Pippen is extremely Annoying <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Still, Pippen hasn't ruled out returning next season to the Bulls, with whom he signed a two-year contract last summer. "There's always a chance," he said. When asked about a timetable for making a decision, Pippen replied, "I'll know by the beginning of next season for sure and maybe before. I'm not quite sure yet."</div> I wanna strangle this guy, make up your mind are you leaving or not? Pippen waves off season, not career <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Scottie Pippen said he wouldn't travel to Indiana for the Bulls' season finale Wednesday. Thus, the future Hall of Famer could have attended his last game as a player Monday, albeit in street clothes. "I'm done for the season, but I may not be waving goodbye," Pippen said. Pippen finishes with averages of 5.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 23 games, all career lows. It's hard to tell what Pippen will do, although his words suggest that accepting a buyout of his guaranteed second year is out of the question. "I'll continue to work to get my knee better this summer," he said. "But I don't know what I'm going to do." This is Pippen's 17th season and his first that won't end in a playoff berth. "It's been a tough season," Pippen said. "We're all looking forward to it coming to an end."</div>
Scottie Pippen was truly one of the best players to ever play the game. He was great, Good luck to Pippen after retirement. The Bulls should retire his # for sure, he has a big part in Chicago Bulls history.
Yes, he was a really great part of the Bulls dynasty. Without him, they probrobly would never have won 6 championships with Jordan because Jordan needed a sidekick, and that was Pippen.
In my opinion, Pippen should just go home and stay there. He is pretty much done and is definatly a liabilty on paper. You sign him, then he sits down. His knees aren't going to magically get better, he needs to realize that. Something needs to be worked out between him and Paxon b/c Pip is the past, not the future.

Age, speed, strength, explosiveness, all gone. He was complimentary to Jordan as Jordan was to him. But those days are long gone, he could barely do anything by himself.

He could do everything well. His defense was otherworldly and he was just as capable on the offensive side. He was far more than a complimentary player.
i think scotties done but hes done so much he should end his carrier in one more play off race.i think he should stay till next season but its all his decision.hes done soo much.when jordon was down pippen was always ready to step up and lead the team!
One of the greatest players I have ever seen live is Scottie, and sometimes I feel he didn't get the respect he deserved for his role in six Chicago rings. In a selfish way, I hope Pip does call it a day - he isn't the player he used to be, and I would much rather remember him for the almighty highs he achieved, not as someone who prolonged his career past it's use by date. A legend.
