<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If he doesn't get a contract extension this summer Walker will be a free agent, he said, and will indeed consider New York. Kurt Thomas, a Don Nelson favorite, was to have been part of the Walker package. Last summer the Knicks, Raptors and Mavs were trying to do a three-way deal, arranged by Mark Cuban, that would have landed Vince Carter in Dallas and Walker in New York."
"On back-to-back nights this week, the Knicks will have faced two players they coveted this summer ? Antoine Walker of Atlanta and, tonight in Toronto, Vince Carter, who is still likely to be dealt but not to the Knicks. A deal that would have made Walker a Knick was nearly completed before being blown up when the Mavericks changed course after they lost point guard Steve Nash to free agency, Walker told The Post before the Knicks defeated the Hawks, 104-88, at the Garden last night."</div>

Walker is considering NYK if he doesn't get an extension with Atlanta. I don't know if Atlanta will do it. They are one of those teams looking for some cap relief and by letting go of Walker they space to sign many good player. How would you guys feel if Walker was a Knick. I have mixed feelings on this. Walker is a good shooter for his size (not from 3 of course) and a good passer and good rebounder. He can easily get a triple double. He is versatile and can play every position on the floor, and in addition he is an all star. On the other hand he's somewhat of a ball hog, has questionable shot selection, and is a bad freethrow shooter (not too much of a con). If we can get him by signing overall it will be a plus, but, I really wouldn't trade for him because Kurt Thomas will likely be in the deal. Walker although might have a better all around game than KT, he still isn't the best fit for the team. Signing him will be cool but, getting him in a trade no. This is just food for thought and Walker like many NBA players in the league take money into extreme consideration so, if we sign him for the MLE we know that we are doing a good job so far here in NY. It will be an interesting offseason though but, we still have a real long time before that happens.

The Knicks don't need another ball-hog who thinks he has a good jump shot. They need a post player in the worst way. Walker can play in the post but doesn't nearly do it enough. His defense is "ok" at best, and doesn't do much that other Knicks players do. I'd stay away from him, he'd be too redundant.
