Warriors getting used to new look
By Marcus Thompson II, CONTRA COSTA TIMES

OAKLAND - Warriors center Adonal Foyle said he sat by the phone Thursday. His bags already were packed for the upcoming eight-game road trip, but he was prepared to pack for good.

"When you look at our record (16-38), something's not working," Foyle said. "You knew things were going to have to be shaken up a little bit and they did that certainly."

On Friday, the Warriors still were getting used to the deadline trades executed by executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin a day earlier.

Gone were starting point guard Speedy Claxton, center Dale Davis, forward Eduardo Najera and rookie point guard Luis Flores. Arriving were point guard Baron Davis, the Warriors' trade deadline coup, and forwards Nikoloz Tskitishvili and Rodney White, who practiced for the first time. Baron Davis, who was not made available to the media, broke away from his physical to watch the end of practice, sporting his No. 5 Warriors practice jersey.

Yeah, like Adonal Foyle is going anywhere with his 8 year veteran status and 6 year contract for 48 mils. [IMG] Unlike Speedy, Foyle does not have that great of a demand nor friendly contract.

Foyle is a terrible rebounder. I think Richardson is a more reliable rebounder.

^Yeah. Foyle can be good at boards, but JR is more consistent and can get boards over the rim [IMG]

*nods head* amen to that. Can't wait to see if Biedrins is as much of a low post beast as I heard.

^He probably is. And he will be even a bigger threat since Sheed and Big Ben won't think this skinny Latavian dude will dunk on 'em and stuff 'em and get 6 boards in 10 minutes [IMG]

Biedrens isn't going to get much playing time unless he's showing he's making an impact on the floor. I highly doubt in this stage of his career he'll be overpowering the Wallaces [IMG] Let's not get too excited here. But I definitely would rather see Biedrens out on the floor as opposed to Foyle missing uncontested dunks and batting posessions back to other team. Jeez, if he's going to be such a terrible rebounder at center we should have never gotten rid of Najera then. BTW who is our hustle and heart player now that Eddie is gone?

Good 'ole Foyle... always can count on him for some heart and hustle. Well, that's all you can usually count on. ahaha. Just kidding, I have faith in Foyle. 10pts 10 rebs and 2 blks is all i ask for.

Dunleavy is the hustler [IMG] I mean can't you see that by the way Barnett comentates? But really I think Biedrins can have a big game off the bench and prove himself to be a player worthy of ten minutes per game [IMG]

That's true. I guess I was thinking of only Eddie Najera and guys like Brian Cardinal because they have more all-around game when they do hustle. I mean you count on either of them to handle the ball some, shoot, get fouled and make their foul shots, or steal the ball and dive on the floor. You know?

But here's the thing if Foyle can't catch the rebound, he's going to bat the ball in some direction, so who is aggressive and fast enough to try to follow it? I just see Eddie Najera flying all over the place to try to track it down... but usually it ends up in the backcourt to the other team's guards... doh!

ahaha if by hustler you mean Woody Harrelson from "White Man Can't Jump" sure [IMG] . Yeah I see what you mean about Barnett though, that guy just loves Dunleavy.

As for floor burns and the loose balls... there isn't really a Cardinal type among them. But with a young scrappy team like the Warriors now ( 9 players under 25), i see it more as a cohesive team effort at diving for loose balls.

The last person i want to see diving for balls is Baron Davis. I mean it's great if he does dive for one, but the injury risk is extremely high if he does.

^Yeah as long as Baron never gets injured again, I'm fine with him going for the losse balls and doing his Custodian impersinations

Speaking of Brian Cardinal, he scored 28 points the day before yesterday. He shot 50% overall, shot 5 three pointers, got 3 steals, 7 boards, 3 assists and probably did all the stuff that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. He led all other Grizzlies in scoring by at least a dozen. Go underdog!

^We need Cardinal. When he gets a steal, you know he's done some great things for teams

^He at least is worth it. Custodian hustles and is a gamebreaker. Fisher is a floppy fish that think he's Kobe

No way man [IMG] I like Brian Cardinal as much as the next guy, but his contract is way too bloated. He makes as much as Foyle I think and that wasn't a wise move by Jerry West.... or was it Hubie Brown's decision? It can't be Brown because he hardly played him.
