<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The question: What's wrong with the Rockets? Talented (and tall) as they are, Yao and McGrady can't shoulder the whole load in Clutch City. Thanks to several subtle but significant moves in the last two weeks, that question probably should be in the past tense. By dealing Tyronn Lue to Atlanta for Jon Barry and Jim Jackson and Bostjan Nachbar to New Orleans for David Wesley, combined with the recovery from back surgery by Bobby Sura, the Rockets have upgraded their perimeter athleticism and spot-up shooting. That should be enough to once again make them an odds-on bet to make the playoffs, which is where they started the season before stumbling to a 6-11 start.</div>By Ric Bucher ESPN The Magazine Full Article Yao, T-Mac need answers I enjoyed this article, it really shows what the rockets are going threw right now.
A nice read. Right now, our short term quick fix are Jon Barry and David Wesley- but the truth is, I don't think they've really contributed that much to the team. David Wesley's shooting has been extremely inconsistent while Jon Barry is pretty passive on the court. I mean, whenever they have open three's they should be taking them- thats what their job is. Currently, I hope Van Gundy changes his strategy with the addition of these new players. We're obvious not going to beat them by speed, although we can mix it up occasionally with it, we can't revolve around it but instead should rely on the paint and jump shots. We have the nessecary incredients here (could still get some guys from the offseason obviously) to improve. We've got Yao in the paint for rebounding and scoring, Howard there to help out, Barry and Wesley for the outside threat, McGrady for the cut, slashing, and perimeter shots, and Bob Sura for dishes and scoring.
The Rockets have enjoyed a very easy schedule the past month, so you can't really judge their playoff chances off of how they've faired the last few weeks. With Mo Taylor playing terribly for most of the season, our bench down-right stinks. Mutombo is the only backup who consistently plays well off the bench.
