Im not sure if I should reliese this because its my article for a site im on.. but I decided I will anyways. Any feedback when your doing reading it would be great. The Rise of the New England PatriotsBy Daniel CsatariLast year the New England Patriot football team reached several milestones that very few teams have accomplished. They won there first six games of the 2004 season to march there winning streak to an impressive twenty-one games. They have won all there home games for two consecutive seasons. Brining there home winning streak to twenty game. Most importantly they have won two straight super bowls, and have won three in four years. The Patriots are only the eighth team in NFL history to complete back to back super bowls, and are the only team besides the Dallas Cowboys of the mid-90's to win three super bowls in four years.Flash back to 2001. The New England Patriots lost pro bowl Quarterback Drew Bledsoe to injury. And the team on a opening season losing streak at 0-2 losing to the New York Jets the previous week. Tom Brady the former seventh round pick out of Michigan State who no on knew much about came in to replace Drew Bledsoe. Tom Brady went up against Payton Manning and the Colts in his very first appearance and like we have found out in recent years Brady and the Patriots made the Colts look like a high school team as the New England Patriots won 44-13. The Patriots never looked back and when Drew Bledsoe was healthy again he rode the bench as the Patriots went 11-3 in games Brady played. Brady made the Pro bowl as a rookie completing 63% of his passes, and guided the Cinderella Patriots all the way to the Super Bowl where he played Kurt Warner?s "Greatest Show on Turf" Saint Louis Rams. And as Kurt Warner found out, The Patriots were better then a Cinderella team beating the Rams 20-17 on a last second field goal by Kicker Adam Vinatieri. Tom Brady went on to win his first of two MVP trophies. In 2002 Brady and the Patriots started fast out of the gates starting 3-0 beating Pittsburgh 30-14, New York (Jets) 44-7, and Kansas City 41-38. Then it looked as if Brady's magic stopped as the team went on a losing slide losing four straight games and the Patriots never really rebounded finishing 9-7 but out of a playoff berth. One of the only bright spots was Tom Brady who finished the season with 3764 yards and 28 touchdowns making a second straight Pro Bowl appearance. In 2003 there were a lot of nay-sayers as the Patriots finished with a 9-7 record in 2002 and not good enough for a playoff appearance the media all pinned the Patriots down as a "Cinderella team" but they were far from it. An opening day lose to the Buffalo Bills 31-0 had the football world shaking its head. Many people thought the Patriots at that point didn't have enough talent to make the playoffs never mind win a Super Bowl. But Brady and Patriots showed how wrong they were, after winning two in a row they lost to Washington but then went on to win twelve games in a row?fifteen counting the playoffs?to finish off the season. They finished the season with a very respectable 14-2 record. Not only that but the 3-4 Patriot defense was number one in the league allowing just 238 points and an amazing 68 at home. They also sold out there 100th straight game in a December seventh show down against the. This time as the Patriots went into the playoffs they were no longer called a Cinderella team, or were labeled as the under dogs. The Patriots were first in the AFC and were favorites to win the Super Bowl and they were right. They beat the Tennessee Titans in a squeaker, 17-14. Then they beat Peyton Manning's Colts 28-14. The Patriots were in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years and this time they were the favorites playing the Cinderella Carolina Panthers. But the results weren't on the Cinderella team's side this time as the New England Patriots held off the Panthers winning the game 32-29 to win there second Super Bowl in thee years and it was Tom Brady's second MVP in his young career. In 2004 the New England Patriots added running back Corey Dillon in the off-season. Corey Dillon was a former pro bowl running back in Cincinnati needed out of the Bengals organization, and the Patriots needed a quality running back as Antowain Smith had just over 600 yards and was released. They found there man in Corey Dillon. This time around after a Super Bowl win the Patriots made sure this time around that they were going to make the playoffs. Starting the season 6-0 the Patriots won a record 21 straight games breaking the old Dolphins one at 18. The Patriots went on to a 14-2 record and Corey Dillon had a franchise best 1642 yards and was named to the Pro Bowl. Tom Brady had his usual 3,692 yard season with 26 touchdowns and was named to the Pro Bowl. The New England Patriots had six players named to the Pro Bowl and with a 14-2 record the Patriots were one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. They had no problem beating Manning's Colt's yet again holding the high powered offence to 3 points as the Patriots won 20-3. There next game was against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh had finished the season 15-1 and rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was making a name for himself. But he would soon find out winning in the season and winning in the playoffs were two different things, as the Patriots won 41-27 against the top defense in the NFL. Next was Donavan McNabb?s Philadelphia Eagles. Bad news came out and all star receiver Terrell Owens was cleared to play in the Super Bowl against the Patriots. Owens went out with an ankle injury in week 14 against the Cowboys, but came back to play in the Super Bowl against doctor?s orders. But the Patriots over came this and won the game 24-21. As the Patriots established its self as a dynasty winning there third super bowl in four games becoming only the second team to win three super bowls in a four year period, with the other team being the Cowboys of the early-90s. In 2005 the Patriots are at crossroads as they are noticed as a very well coached team and losing Offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss as head coach of Notre Dame, and Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennell as head coach of the Cleveland Browns. And losing Guards Joe Andreuzzi and Adrian Klemm to free agency doesn't help this offensive line. And losing key players Ty Law, David Pattern, and Roman Phifer as free agents has hurt them a lot. But does this team have what it takes to three-peat? Time will tell if this magical franchise can win its fourth super bowl in five years.
Wow, you're a great writer man, I enjoyed this article very much. I'm one too, I've been writing for about 5-6 months, sports mainly, good to know there is another one here! Thanks for sharing!BTW; I think the Pats will 3-peat. It's early, and a very hard feat to accomplish, but if any team can do it, it has to be them...
Thank's for the feedback man. I have to confess that's my first article I have ever written. I was the first one to write an article for our article team and I think I kind of raised the limits. I'm pretty proud of this article, but ofcourse it took me a long time to write. Im not sure how long but im sure it was over two hours. And I think the Patriots still have enough talent and coaching to three-peat. Tom Brady is a clutch performer, and with the emrergence of Deion Branch which gives Brady a very good target and the solid running game of Corey Dillion I think the offence is set. The defence will be pretty good too but the loss of Ty Law might hurt but I think the Patriots can ofcome this. There toughest opsticle will be winning there division the Jets are really improving.
