so I'm flipping through this photo list of the best NBA players never to win an MVPhttp://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi.../content.1.htmland the last one is of the A-Train, Artis Gilmore. I read the blurb.. I nearly choked on my watermelon!Artis Gilmore is NOT in the HOF?!?!whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!that's a travesty!how can the career FG% leader not be in the HOF? it's not like he shot so well because he barely shot. the man averaged 17.1 ppg in the NBA and 22 PPG in the ABA! In his prime years (under 34) he only averaged less than 10 rpg once and that was in 79-80 a year in which he only played 48 games.does anyone else find this a huge blemish on the HOF.. especially in a year where no players were added to the Hall?I just always assumed he was in there... how silly of me!
Artis Gilmore is one of the most underrated/forgotten NBA players of all time. He rarely gets mentioned when people are discussing some of the best NBA big men in past history. His field goal percentage is amazing, but his great rebounding gets overlooked at times. He averaged 17 rebounds per game in the ABA, as well as 10 per game in the NBA. I try and get this guy alot of exposure on here, I mentioned him in a few posts. More people need to realize how good he actually was.Plus, he had a mean Afro:
Artis gilmore is one of my favorite players for the longest time I had him in my avatar. he was probably the most efficient big man to ever play the game and probably a top 20 alltime player. he should easily be a HOFer.
Yes. He should be a HOF no doubt, no need to explain really.. he was just a outstanding player of his time.
Adrian Dantley can be thrown into the mix as well. Somebody needs to recognize them and send them into the HOF.
I've stopped caring about who gets into the HOF. Many great players have been left out, that's just the way it is.
